  1. A wild guess, but can you eliminate the battery red knob "thing" from the wiring? Somehow the permanent feed has been removed / bypassed to the rest of the electrics for the car.
  2. Yep on diesel if you had the heater on it will be the webasto allright, so nothing to worry about, but do investigate how they work!
  3. So, just a guess, but does NOTHING electrical work when ignition is off, including interior lights? Or if you try to switch on the side lights or headlights you get nothing, when the key is out? The mileage should light up on the dash when any door is open, along with a red door open warning light
  4. Absolutely fantastic when they're not annoying you hey!!! Recently got a 57 plate Galaxy to replace (while it's still off the road) our first 02 GV, and they are not nearly as nice a drive - got loads more go about it though I reluctantly have to admit, and it's only the 1.8 old style engine diesel.
  5. Try the spares guys at Pentagon Chrysler in Barnsley, always been very helpful to me.
  6. Just a thought, have you checked the little door switch? Could be dodgy or sticking, open the door and press the plunger a few times see if it does anything different.
  7. I recently bought the intake V gasket from jeepchryslerparts, in London, very helpful guys, worth a phone call! Don't go off the website details, speak to them - they found it and cross referenced what I needed, after I had a wrong one from elsewhere, presumably for the earlier version.
  8. mmm, sorry - actually technically it makes the contact, it is a plunger that moves out when the part of the pedal moves away from it. Won't make any diference to finding it but I thought I should correct myself!!
  9. First thing to check is your name plate data, I think it's on the front slam panel above the rad under bonnet. It will give kerb weights and other info, but also check your log book for weight data. But probably you are only looking at 500kg in reality, even allowing for the 30kg mid seats and around 50kg bench. And depending on the condition of your suspension, if you over load seriously, plod will easily spot it. And it's a serious offence, my scrap man got banged for £600 a couple of years ago!!
  10. It will be at the top of the pedal, high up, hidden behind the the plastics, when the pedal is pressed the top part of it above the pivot point moves away and breaks the switch contact, lighting up the bulbs.
  11. Not on one of these, but a mate had that same tube fail internally on a Discovery TD5, and did similar things, as it's stopping it beathing.
  12. Hi guys! I only know the one under the bonnet, they have several ecu's but not sure about multiple fuse locations. Mine certainly has nothing near the jack, but the rear door ecu is up behind the panel on that side. For the brake lights, try the brake light switch on the brake pedal.
  13. Hi there newbie!! My central locking would reset if I took the IOD fuse out for around half an hour. Shorter and it still held "memory" and still didn't respond to the fob or door switch. Let us know how you go on!
  14. Hi there and welcome! There should be a number on the unit, but you may need to get under the car to see it. Someone else may know if they are interchangeable too. Not to doubt the word of a garage.......... but now the belt has gone can you get your hand on the AC pulley and not turn it? Because the alternator pulley free wheel clutch has a habit of failing, and makes a strange "wuh wuh wuh" noise before it goes.
  15. Try HID conversion for your dipped beam, they are AWESOME, and cheap. Take a look at the other topics on here!
  16. Oh chuffing heck Chryslers yes. I'm on my third, but without the trauma you've had. 2002 LX, had it 4 years, 3.3 on LPG, still got it, thats the one with the gear chamge problem......... 2002 Ltd, 3.3, had it 2 1/2 years, then before selling it found our currnet 2005 3.3 (again) stow n go, and converted to LPG. Any way - on topic - the roof bars off my 2002 fit on the stow n go, need a bit of a tap to get on the rail to start but then fine.
  17. The petrol ones are much cheaper than the diesel units for some reason, I only gave around £20 / £30 for the 2 I got. My guess is that it's not the TCM, but something else. That fault code is related to "exhaust gas recirculation throttle control circuit" Mine no longer gives any fault codes, but doesn't change forward gears.
  18. Yeah very wierd that they changed that sort of thing on a face lift. If I get chance at weekend I'll wizz the ones off my 2002 and see if they slide into my 2005, worth a shot hey. We are nearer Stockport than Manchester, where abouts are you?
  19. If the tyres are a few years old the side walls will weaken, worn on the tread or not, rubber goes off - age is a wonderful thing! Because of course as they rotate they would be squishing and relaxing all the time at lower speeds. Especially as lots of people think tyres will go from one service to the next without a look! So they would run for a lot of their life under inflated - not good on a heavy car! Hence the "dumbing down" by car manufacturers - "Tyre Pressure Monitors" And so older tyres would do exactly as you say! Do check for any minor cracks on the sidewall close up!
  20. Hey there Colinevan - welcome!! (close neighbour!!) Yes they are very slightly different, the older ones have the lift up catch, where as our face lift ones (mine is 2005 stow n go) have a thumb wheel tightening. You've obviously already got the earlier ones and confirmed they don't go on the slide rail - I didn't know that bit! However - Only a question - but you did try to fit them from the front after removing the front plastic end cap didn't you? Then slide in and along? Cheers mate - see you around!
  21. Hi again, The chap is George, my mate is "Colin with the Omega estate" - he'll know him!! S & G Tuning, Bolsover Business Park, Bolsover, S44 6BB 01246 825030 Very best of luck pal
  22. Hiya, sorry mate - TCM is Transmission Control Module, controls the gear shifts up down etc. Except reverse, park, and second, which are manually selected when you move the shift lever. If you remove the TCM they still work. Yes they do I did it. PCM is Power Control Module On a petrol 3.3 they TCM is under the passenger wing, and the PCM is in front of the battery. And sadly basically you can't check them. My extreme frustration with mine is I've been fixing motorcycles and cars for 35 years and this little poo has beat me - not a happy bunny about it. The problem with mine, and possibly starting with yours, is when all the gear light squares are on it means the car (PCM and ECU) doesn't know where the gear lever is, "no communication from TCM to PCM" was the fault on mine, yet all wires appear to be ok - obviously something isn't!!!!!!!!! And a replacement TCM made no difference - they do not need coding in to the car, see the American mini van sites and Utube vids. Checked lots of wiring under the car in teh loom, apparently a common problem, nothing found. A very good mate of mine has a very good scanner but it see's sod all on it. If you do a "key dance" on/off 3 times (not starting it - just to ignition position) then leave in ignition position, the mileometer will cycle through some codes - have a pen ready - then go to "done" when finished. Mine was P01698.
  23. A mate of mine lives in Bolsover and uses a really nice local guy there, totally straight and genuine bloke. Not on your door step but not so far - any use? If so I will get you his number and address.
  24. My LX without the electric doors / boot had a similar problem, and ultimately would only drive forward in 2nd, no shifting. Changed the TCM, and PCM, checked out all wires, and never sorted it. Basically the cars stuffed as the engine light is now on due to potential emission problems. So good luck!! I will be watching this line - it may help me fix mine which is sat at the bottom of the garden!!!!!
  25. Hi guys, none of my 3 petrol versions have had one, but I guess it might have something to do with noise as well as aerodynamics on a diesel.
