  1. Checked the from sensors, both read the same on the meter. Couldn't find the connector on the back ones but didn't get chance for a proper look as it was getting late and was losing the light
  2. That sound normal to me, mine never gets close to half way on the gauge.
  3. Sorry in the delay, checked mine the weekend while it was sitting on the drive and the fans don't come until a while after the engine has switched to lpg (which on mine means it's pretty much up to running temperature)
  4. I really wouldn't bother with the extra expence of fully synthetic in anything other than high performance engine (made to tighter tolerances and run hotter) semi synthetic is more than adequate for normal engines.
  5. I will probably back with more questions soon :-D
  6. Do they have hand brakes? :-D This is my second auto last one was a 5 series BMW and I don't think I ever used the hand brake in the 3 years I owned it. I've used it on the gv it only really when parked on a slope ( just in case). Just have to get used to sitting in traffic with your foot on the brake (which feels wrong after driving manuals)
  7. And thanks for the info qinteq, that is what I suspected
  8. I had a similar issue so I disconnected the one sensor to stop it temporarily. Rather have no abs than no brakes but MOT is coming around so got to sort it out
  9. Thanks for the reply, very useful. I've had to replace a reluctor ring on my other car, had a quick look at them and they just seem a little corroded but not broken, wire brush got the worst of the debris off. Will break out the meter when the weather improves. Would this cause the traction control to switch off too?
  10. My abs light is on and traction control is off. Want to try to find the problem myself before taking to a garage. I'm guessing the sensors are the place to start, what's the best way of testing/checking them. What next if the sensors are OK?
  11. Can't say I've noticed on mine. I will check and get back to you
  12. Had a closer listen yesterday, sprayed the idle pulley bearing with a little lube and hey presto running sweet as a nut today, happy days
  13. Cheers for that, all is well, as well as it can be when you own a gv :-) it does it in tick over and just speeds up as the engine revs get higher, haven't tried it with the air con on, I'll try it and see if the noise changes
  14. Better late than never. I had it on a BMW, problem started with the wrong temp reading, unplugged the thermometer and it started reading -40, turned out to be dirty connection increasing the resistance in the sensor, but anyway -40 seems to be the reading from a dodgy sensor
  15. Is it an easy enough job? Had a look today and it doesn't look like there's too much room to play with. Sounds more of a rattly squeak, than just a belt slipping squeak, if that makes sense,
  16. There is a squeaking noise coming from the engine bay when first started from cold, seems to go away after a while. Could this be the bearing in the tensioner pulley or is it something else? It's an 06 gv 3.3 petrol by the way
  17. Sounds like the thermometer is broken or disconnected.
  18. My drivers side mirror does it, normally if I open the door too fast and push the mirror. It's one of those jobs on my list :-P
  19. I get mine from a gas supplier. Lister gases, no garage or forecourt you just get a key fob to use their pumps and pay every 2 weeks for what you've used
  20. Yeah I must say, it's not so bad on a good run. Just heavy Hector to lug around town on short runs. If I did more miles the gas price would come down to 38p/ltr, can't grumble at that
  21. I do have a gas conversion though and only pay 41p/ltr for gas, so 15mpg ain't so hard to stomach :-D
  22. Are you sure it's not a leaky exhaust, that sounds about where the join is in the exhaust system
  23. Spare a thought for us petrol gv owners, mine gets about 15 mpg :-D
  24. Oh ok, only asking because mine was doing similar but turned out to be a misfire, but felt like the gearbox. Not much help as yours is diesel. I've have heard issues with the torque converter. Best to change oil and filter first though :-)
