  1. Ok - issue 1 - clunking Ask anyone in the Northamptonshire area and this could be answered by the masses.... It sounds like the spring surrounding the shock absorber has snapped. Blame inferior steel - I have had two fail. Be aware that if it is this, the spring collapses down on itself, and could start to rub the inside of your tyre. Diagnosis - put the wheel into maximum lock.. if the noise is coming from hrs - turn max left and look up from inside of wheel arch from drivers door area. Spring will appear in two bits. Secondly - the lights, suspect that there is either a dry joint or crimp along the line... Penguin
  2. The banjo bolt for the brake line lists at 33Nm. refer to: http://www.300cforums.com/forums/1st-gen-srt8-specific-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension/210969-brembo-bolt-torque-setting.html Penguin
  3. A web search on the above error results in many responses: http://www.justanswer.com/uk-car/83bz1-dpf-is-dpf-fluid-how-reset-dpf-how-investigat.html To ensure that my wings are not clipped, suggest a search on p242f diesel particulate filter ash accumulation but this is a brief snippet of what is on above for quick reference: P242F - Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Ash Accumulation P2485 - Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Duration These errors codes are saying your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is clogged. I would start by doing a "regen" which will clean out the DPF. See below for the steps on how to perform a regen. If this does not clean out the DPF, your only recourse is to replace it which can run in the £300 range. The DPF is located in the exhaust pipe, and no, it does not require diesel exhaust fluid. Read more: http://www.justanswer.com/uk-car/83bz1-dpf-is-dpf-fluid-how-reset-dpf-how-investigat.html#ixzz3lclkl8ut Hope that this is of use Penguin
  4. Hi linnsd In my delta, there is an option (on / off) via the sat nav / display on console. - ISTR in options - settings - .... Worth a look? Penguin
  5. Silly question - going back to the fuel filter..... Is this still 'clean'? HAs it any condensate in? If so you may have picked up a duff load of diesel, and as a result if the tank is getting low - fuel floats on water ..... you suck through water until it gets churned up... Worthwhile having a look at a) state of fuel filter, & try taking a sample of fuel - more difficult these days because of the anti-siphon kit, but you can get around this, with a bit of lateral thinking. Penguin
  6. If you go to your bit part autospares dealer in locality, they will be able to reference from model / year etc If you ask kindly enough, they may even do it for you. The H brand will do so, but have a charge for this, in some of the sites. Penguin
  7. Hi there Spotted a 300C, silver grey 300C estate on above, thursday 27th August. Was it you? Passed my white Delta with ease - but .... no loving flashes from the headlights. Penguin
  8. Spotted a silver 300C near Vagar airport, Faroe Islands today Is this the most north they have driven to (62oN)? Penguin No snow and ice, but plenty of rain to keep the waterfalls topped up!
  9. Sounds like fuel starvation Fuel pump / fuel filter / dirty injectors A good shot of fuel cleaner from your local parts man run it through .... New fuel filter - same place Is the fan belt under proper tension? Penguin
  10. Sounds like fuel starvation Fuel pump / fuel filter / dirty injectors A good shot of diesel cleaner from your local parts man run it through .... New fuel filter - same place Diesel condensate tank - is it full of diesel or water? Penguin
  11. Hi DC Have you tried ..... Look at passenger side / driver side door pilars Alternatively on the latch side of the bonnet or on the lock side of the bonnet Also possible on tail gate.... Happy hunting - its a silver plastic covered plate about 2.5 inches square. Penguin
  12. If its a canary, it may not be a wheel bearing. Wheel bearings are more grumbly stomach after a big curry and a few glasses of lager. It could be the disc rubbing on the brake pads Observing safety all the way .... No head in wheel arch, support car with additional drop safe blocks (a few bricks etc), no feet under car ... Whip the wheel off Full right lock Spin the wheel Noise? Is there a rim of rust on the disc rim? If so - spin the wheel with an old screwdriver / stiff blade placed tight against the brake pad on the disc rim You may need to do a couple of revolutions to solve. If car is stationary - this may build up as discs get hot, damp and rust forms. Should look at opposite corner as well. My spanner man, has a special tool to do the job - saves him taking off the wheel - but its not cheap and comes from down under - for a Holden. Penguin
  13. Stupid response but.... Put a human in the boot, shut it down, reassure the 'child?' that you will let them out! Could be a light on in the boot - had a similar problem with my Uno years ago, dealership pulled hair out etc etc, new batteries (2?) Son in boot - solved with a new pressure switch and IIRC about 37p Penguin
  14. Mmm sounds like a bearing - water pump / fuel pump? Can you hear it when you replicate acceleration on the drive with hood up? quote 'when car speed matches accelerator demand' = fuel pump, but guessing Have you checked fuel filter - if it has not been changed, it could be a fuel starved' scenario. Condensate tank empty? So many options, lift the hood and slowly accelerate out of gear and report back ..... Penguin
  15. Hi Steveky Have you got any paperwork from previous owner? Has the service book been scribbled on? As per common sense if you have not got any paperwork ...... ........ If you think it needs a question - it needs doing. Service intervals depend a) on mileage and age of belt (2007 = 8 years) Fan belts - I do mine (well my man with his spanner) every 48k - if it snaps and it costs 30 quid, its cheaper than a new engine. If the car has not moved very much - 69/8 = 9k / year, has it sat around or was it used as a run around? Sitting rubber belts in one position for extended periods of time does not do them too much good. New engine and city 3 to 4000? New timing belt 100 & fit? I know which bill I would prefer to pay! Penguin
  16. uloz dot net is now a dead domain Penguin
  17. Is this the Navteq version? I have just had a 'disc / image update' offer from them, for just under 100UKP It seems an extremely pricey update, considering that the 'image' I have is summer 2013. If it was a Garmin (my choice by default as a 'mobile' device between cars) the image is free. Another good 'ripoff for my holiday money - i may put up with the lack of new roundabouts and take some journeys across a few fields where new roads have been built, and update next summer - when I intend to go abroad again - subject to the itinerants in Calais and coquelles rail junction. Krill eating Penguin
  18. Another couple of places to look...... Have a look under the bonnet next to the bonnet catch 'male' connection. Alt - have you tried the front passenger side door pillar? Penguin
  19. can you put the rattle into any specific area? Penguin FL / FR/ when wheels on lock - straight ahead e ven if you think its not useful - chuck us the info .... it may help someone with a rattle stethoscope ...; :-) Penguin
  20. Try my local bit part man (on line version) ..... https://www.wilcodirect.co.uk/Chrysler-Sebring/category/steering-rack-gaiters Penguin
  21. Had this fun on my Delta It was found on the underside of the bonnet, next to the bonnet catch Chrysler charge the earth for their paint tins, the local parts man supplied at a considerably cheaper cost Penguin
  22. Have you cleaned the furl filter / fuel pump lines??? Sludge can do this 2002 - can have a load of sludge in the tank - could pay you to sluice out the tank and see if there is any nasties in the tank. Also - is the tank dry - i.e. has it any water in it? Penguin
  23. As per normal, track and trace via your local Motor Spares dealer. If they have not got, they might get. If not they will recommend someone else - or suggest someone else. If they need to be made - contact someone like PIRTEK who make / supply / produce anything from this to that..... Penguin
  24. A local 'Google search' (other search engines available' - should come up with local TV / Radio repair shacks - a few phone calls will probably save a lot of petrol. More often than not, these days, items such as sat navy are deemed to be non-viable repairs, as a new unit is a) an easier repair cheaper to do (Mums 4 year old S++Y Tv, estimated repair was in order of 200 squid. Voltage regulator / power unit / strip & fit .... and also the vodka and tonic aspect New S++Y TV was in the order of 260 squid - plus a five year (thanks to Jenny Loowis) sort it out paperwork.) Cost for a new unit? There are a couple of units on flea bay, maybe they would do you a swop out via a repairer .... Regards Penguin Looking at his flat earth map
