  1. At that age Arty, the colour of the paint is likely to have undergone rather a lot of sunbathing / bleaching. If its not that critical, you could attempt a T cut match - alternatively, that it as an optical illusion on your eye. Penguin
  2. Hi Jay Be cheeky - ring a Chrysler dealer and say that you have been told that the vehicle has been on a check-o-computer and has come back with the following codes ...... It could be a lucky Green Flag man or the AA man or even an RAC person.... with a computer that has Chrysler codes on it.... Ask them for a remedy, I'm sure that they will want your custom You then have your answer Saves on you facing them face to face, and then dive into a local garage (or your own if confident) to fix Penguin
  3. Hi Mikey It sometimes is useful being a Physics teacher - top pocket forgetfulness is sometime times useful - many screwdrivers have migrated into my toolbox! However, due to HSE rules and regulations, we are not allowed to teach kids how to put 13A mains plugs on. As it seems to be with a well known PeeCee supplier who sells Indian meals. Mum has to put up with a flex on a sub countertop washing machine, until I get down there to chop of the plug, shove it up the hole in the countertop and reattach a plug to let it look pretty and work more safely than they left it. The afore stated shop has not responded to an email to their head takeaway counter - maybe they are too embarrassed to know that 'water qualified' engineers cannot supply and fit a 13A plug.
  4. Or a stone behind a 'vanity disc' on a wheel rim. This happened to me on Harris, Scotland. RAC man did have a joke about it - stating that it could have been worse, as a similar noise on a previous car proved to be the last legs of a drive shaft / CV joint disintegrating. Penguin
  5. Did you buy from a dealer or private? If a dealer - they can obtain code fox from FIAT Thinks you can go into a FIAT / CHRYSLER dealer and obtain code* - IF you can prove that you are the owner and the radio is original fit. *This may cost Penguin
  6. You can extract a radio component without spending out on these bits of kit. Use four 'thick - 2mm plus' heavy gauge paperclips or four 2mm head electrical screwdrivers. Do not force the unblock, but you will feel a gentle pressure from the springs in the unit. Have extracted Fiat Tipo and Uno by this method to repair cables coming out the back (spade connectors in those days). Penguin
  7. Hi John Welcome to the best forum in the world If you have just purchased, suggest that a trip back to the selling person may be in order? If its a car dealer - you have 'rights'. If its a deal with a private individual, you may well find that a computer hook up may be in order. Good luck Penguin
  8. Hi R How many miles on the clock for the 4 year service? I'm hoping just to go for an oil / fluids / .... for the three year. Having only traveled 6k miles, a light service this year and then the medium heavy service next .... Are the major services every 20k? Penguin
  9. Have contacted C UK - well sent to a C dealer £399 for a year - warrantee extension and breakdown. Could not quote me for a years breakdown, so as mine is about £40 / year for breakdown, I think I will save a few £ and opt for that. Regards Penguin
  10. Hi Folks My annual pay for using the car (insurance, MOT, breakdown cover, Road Tax) is due within a month or so. Has anyone used Chrysler breakdown cover (Home start / recovery / continental) with any vehicle? If so, feedback appreciated. Has anyone renewed in the UK? There seems to be little on either - maybe because we are Lancia rebadged Deltas, and I am googling in the wrong area. ISTR that my subs from last year (Home start / recovery / continental), where in the region of £79 by Europ Mondial - cannot accurately state, as its lump summed in the receipt that I have on the laptop. Regards from a sunny roost Penguin
  11. This has been on my local Gumtree adverts. Looks like wing / number damage / front end damage. You can see the car via the advert number or via this link: http://www.gumtree.com/p/chrysler/chlysler-voyager/1098749954 Reg. Mark: **51 *** Get the Vehicle Status Report VSR Manufacturer: CHRYSLER Transmission: 5 SPEED MANUAL PETROL Model: VOYAGER SE Fuel: PETROL Type: Estate Previous Owners: 4 Doors: 5 DOOR MPV Metallic Paint: Yes Colour: BLUE Seats: 7 Year: 2001 Safety Features: Alarm Reg. Date: 12/10/2001 In-Car Audio: CD Player Engine Size: 2429 cc All of the car damages can be seen in the pictures. The car has (on his own) drove back down a hill, which resulted in these damages. The engine is not damaged, it works without hesitation. At this moment in time it is in SORN. It has stayed infront of the house (which is shown in the picture) for a couple of months now. I have turned the engine on about a month ago, and everything was OK. I can sell it or i can swap it for a motorbike with some cash included in the deal. If you buy it you must send the deposit to my paypal account; £50. The rest of the money you will hand over when getting the car. Any questions or queries please send me a message, I will answer any questions. (This is guaranteed) Thank you. Alex I have spam proofed the advertised phone number on advert 078346907 zero and the number between four and two Note: I have not seen the car It is not my car I am not related to the car, car owner - other than bringing it to the Forum's attention. There are pictures on the Gumtree advert - damage does not seem to bad. Looks like: new wing / new head light / new bumper / Bonnet looks OK in terms of dents - but paint may be flaky on front edge / scuffs & paint damage to rear top bumper from tail gate loading etc etc Penguin Ad ID: 1098749954
  12. See previous posts .... Is it on the black stuff or paint? Warentee claim (hope here)??? Penguin - with no rust at the moment, but totally black from road muck. Not a pretty sight today.
  13. The company 'Parrot' used to do an add in module - i.e. you manually turn dow radio and then can use it as a hands free device. Penguin The small print: Whilst a hands free unit does enable you to talk 'hands free' legally, it does still affect your driving ability. I do not endorse the use of a hands free kit, my mobile is always switched off in my car for safety purposes. Please refer to: http://www.rospa.com/roadsafety/adviceandinformation/driving/mobilephoneswhiledriving/factsheet.aspx
  14. Hi Conway If its any use... I have a Delta SR Nav - which has Blue & Me system. If one trolls the internet, you may find a disc, but you need the unlock codes as well. For me the upgrade is £149 I've decided that the amount of time that I will use it, in the UK - I can cope. The majority of the roads in France, have a 'parallel aspect' in upgrades - so am happy. When I had my Garmin, I could upgrade under the lifetime user, which I did periodically, but the amount of road changes are so sporadic, that you can often cope without the expense. My sister is a lot better off, she lives out in the sticks near Diss, Norfolk. The only upgrade around her, that was not registered with Garmin for at least two years, was a bypass at Scone(?) Enjoy the extra beer money .... Unless .... Penguin Last seen looking for a decent sized iceberg
  15. That turn around was quick - it took the C J dealership I dealt with nearly 3 weeks. Blamed it on the Italian (Salami) holiday. Penguin

  17. You may find that if you note the dodgy LED positions, remove and apply a small powered soldering iron, it may solve the problem. Low melting point solder as well. It may save you £150 - I claim my 10% commission if it does work. You won't loose out if you don't try it. Bank balance will be a bit healthier as welll!!!!! One thing I did do when I took mine in, was to mark the cluster that was 'supposed to be' changed. Don't like the local full Dealership (Chrysler / Jeep) - would not have put it past them, to do the trick that I suggested above They would not get the part in and supply it to my dealer, as it required specialist tools .... Cross head screwdriver, a pair of hands with a second person useful, plus the infamous warrantee would not be valid. Penguin
  18. Hi Nello Its called the frost effect ... Well, when components cool significantly they shrink .... and the contacts get closer together. One wonders if you run them for a while, whether or not you get the heat effect - even LEDs give off a small amount of heat. Don't know really Pure luck? Was it the whole cluster? If its still under the big W it may pay to get it replaced. Dealer fit for my W replacement would have been expensive, If I had to pay. Regards Penguin Morris A35 Van, Ford Cortina Mk3, Ford Cortina Mk4, Fiat Uno x 2, Fiat Punto, Fiat Tipo, Fiat Bravo x 2, Fiat Stilo, Fiat Bravo, and now ... Chrysler Delta 1.6 Sat Nav plus
  19. Hi Have you the manuals? Ok - assume not, so looking in the Delta book its 72k miles or 7 years As per all engine parts, that are deemed as replacement items, I would err on the side of (the engine is very expensive) replacing early. Regards Penguin
  20. Hi Given the state of the modern key, the inbuilt electronic chip etc ... Historically I had a Brava that had a 'red computer key' and a blue 'non chipped emergency key'. The instructions obviously was to use the expensive 'computer key', treating the blue key as per sec as an emergency key. A new red key was required due to water damage. Wife dropped into puddle. Fiat quoted for a new key, and was the only real supplier in the end. (thinks it was £over 100 + vodka and tonic) One may just have to bite the bullet on this occasion and go with the flow. You will need the log book, photo ID, utility bill and a real passion to obtain it. They will simply look all the documentation, check you are the owner [- note owner not the person who presents the key (i.e. partner will not be able to get a key if they are not named as owner on the V5)] look at the key, and order one for you - it comes pre-cut straight from FIAT. Make sure when you pick the key up that it a) fits and has picked up the codings on first use from the car (things happen when the key is used to lock and open the car inside the key). They may - but not promising as my dealer is a 8 mile trip away, to post it, using registered pot. The reason for all the ID is to prevent you turning up, stating that you are the owner of a 300C, living at this address and have lost the key.... Ideal burglar options! It may take put 4 weeks to get the key, mine came from Italy, they may have a stock in the UK now, I am not aware. Phew ..... Hope you manage to get it sorted, hope that your dealer is OK. A previous loan car had an unchipped key. Unknown to the hire company the 'blue key' had a maximum drive distance. At the time, drove unto North Wales (250 miles) came back down the M6 and warning lights came on ..... Stopped at the services and switched off etc. I had the chipped key, but someone had 'snapped the key plastic holder part' and as a result the chip (2mm x x 2mm) had been lost. A vauxhall antitheft device to prevent keys being snatched from the ignition at the time. Tried to restart the car - nothing happened! With two kids and a wife getting hotter under the collar, rang the hire company - they supplied a new car at the services about four hour later. Having drunk copious quantities of coffee and eaten too much fried chicken, we ended up at home, at an ungodly hour. Added to which, the snow was coming down, the M6 was white in all lanes and the A14 was not built, so Lutterworth to home was a nice 30 miles on unsalted A roads .... Oh the joys of going to the inlaws for New Year. The 'unclipped blue key' had a 500 mile maximum journey time - so be aware that you will require a chipped key. I do not know if this is still the case with FIAT keys. I have two chipped 'red keys' for my Delta. Happy driving and hope you get the keys sorted out. Penguin
  21. Hey I frequently have to warm the demister up on cold mornings, and touch wood this clears the 'breath' mist. This sometimes on cold cold mornings goes onto side and rear windows. Is it ONLY on the windscreen? I have never had to chip ice off the inside of the windscreen in the Delta. (I owned a Cortina once, no heater, ice on inside of windscreen from breath, demisted with deicer, North Wales to Northamptonshire in 30 minute stages - the breaks in between to clean the windscreen! Those were the days!!!!) However: Are the footwells wet? - leak from windscreen running inside car body - underfelt common in the Brava/o Check the windscreen seals - any obvious water leaks? / streaks? Check under the bonnet - are the gunnels free from rubbish / leaves etc - there are drain holes that let water off the gunnel into the engine bay. I seem to recall somewhere, that if there was water evident in the left hand Brav(a/o) there was a seal problem above the glove box. Are you getting in with soggy wet clothes? Stupid suggestion, but solved the leak problem in my Stylo - take it to the car wash. Take out the boot blind, fold down seats, take a torch and a nimble youngster and watch all the seals around doors etc. Is water being ingressed around a window seal in the car? Ford had a great production idea, since stopped on a production car, of a wire heater in the front screen. As per rear screen heater. In rally cars, I believe it went to a very fine gold wire film to act as a demister. I don't know why it was stopped. Probably too expensive. Hope that you can resolve. Penguin Don't use methanol / glycol based products in confined spaces. As well as the explosion risk - the fumes are not good for you. I will work with electrics at home, but I do know a good gas fitter (anti-explosions) and also a plumber (anti floods).
  22. Hi Mikey Looked at Kumo / Michelins / Goodyears / (Firestones are exempt as I had a new one blow out on me years ago / Pirelli - soft as mud) Did the tyre reviews, compared the tyre ratings etc, and Falkens came out on top. Never used them, and considering I basically had three rims from my car (with odd tyres) and a rim from another that had been plugged from a puncture repair, I went for the F's. Time will tell, the Boss I know through teaching his son, and he stated it was a good mid range tyre. FYI M Pilots / Primacy came out at 100 / corner Kumos - too noisy / lacking fuel efficiency + very soft = wear rate high (logic) Pirelli - won't touch set of p6000 wore out in 5500 miles with sensible driving on a sensible family car, committing too work proved very expensive etc etc Penguin, not very happy as its too hot, no snow
  23. Sounds (no pun) like you may have a cracked cable? Test each.... More than likely a crack near the combo blocks - my Brava drove me nuts too. One speaker in rear (left? IIRC) was not working. Cable circuits were ok ..... Move the cable connectors in block - 'bingo'. A real slow checking job, one NOT to do when its raining, cold or you want to use car quickly, as you may have to remove door cards etc. Chris
  24. Hi A happy New Year and good Delta driving to you all. My tyres treads running thin on the front, expected to have to replace them. So had to bite the bullet today. Not that I am expecting floods, tempest or snow I have fitted four Falken ZE-914 225 / 45 / R17 onto her. Including new valves, balancing and a tracking adjustment - has cost me £324 all in. So thats about £81 a corner. The Falken tyres are apparently a good tyre, good reviews a good seller in Japan apparently: Ratings from the tyre: C Fuel efficiency B for grip 71dB noise So that the grip levels remain the same on all four corners! An interesting discovery when the tyres were removed from the rims ... Also come with a life time warrantee, not that I will ever use it. Fingers crossed I only have had one on road hole, and a nail through that survived at least two weeks without deflation of tyre. (Car was not moved - on a airport car park [enough said, £call out etc etc]) Does anyone on the group have WN 12 RXG? If so, you probably have one of my rims, and I have yours! Swop??? Regards
  25. An 'Interesting dealership' - if its the one that has Jeepz stacked inside They took time between my trips to move the coffee machine in the waiting area. One wold think, that it should be a dealership expense - and not a punter gratuity box... My fettling was signed off by the dealer who sold me the car. A 30 year old dealership of trust, rests on the non-appearance of any further rust, a handshake deal to repair if it raises its ugly head again. Penguin
