I presume you have run it through the 4 comparison websites? And then direct line, Aviva etc directly as they're not on those sites. And risk also goes up as it's got 7 seats for a claim.

Hi there, Presuming it won't work with any of the locking controls, the switch on the drivers door as well, then start with the central locking actuator in the offending sliding door, swap it for the other sliding door one to totally confirm, same motor but different arm.

Hi there and welcome! Now in fairness it could just be a coincidence.... But, probably, not uncommonly, the little central lock motor fails. If you are able to you can confirm it, take the inner door covers off and see if it twitches when the lock / unlock is tried. If nothing happens then you could take the actuator from the other door, they are the same but different arms attached, and try it on the offending side. If that works, they are as cheap as chips now, quite often ebay suppliers. If not, I suppose it might be a rod come off which by this pint you'll have seen of course!!

I didn't buy it but there's a special tool for holding and removal, as I hope I won't be doing it again any time soon!! -

Yep, the clutch pulley isn't un-common on lots of vehicles now. As you found, if you catch it early enough you could just change the pulley if that's the only fault. -

On our petrol the rather loud "ruh ruh ruh etc" noise only came on when it was loaded, either AC on or in gear, but raise revs and away it went. But sounded terminal for some component! It still spun no trouble at all when I took it off!! Then silent with the new one on...... ah bliss. -

Hi there, I got a new alternator with pulley for my 3.3 from a company in Preston, Lancs, West Lancs Auto Electric Retail Ltd, fantastic service, approx £140 if I remember right, delivered, and return courier for the old one. Yours looks like a diesel though from that pic. Try the site, they will email you a price, and they didn't sell my details for marketing!!! -

That's a fair chunk higher! I've got the Ltd XS, but our previous Ltd, or the LX, weren't appreciably different. Unless the height is because of any mechanisms for the ramps maybe!?

You know, it could probably be the wheel / tyre size doing it, but I'm sure it looks high at the back end compared to mine! Measured in the middle, ours is 20" from floor to top curve of the rear bumper. Or if you have the factory fit reverse sensor bar under the bumper, 13.75" to the underside.

Hi @@robbie2red, I thought I spotted you said you were a chair use, yes those Braun Entervans are some of the ones I've spotted when browsing the autotrader for something for my mother in law, not essential for her yet, we can get her in as she does have some mobility. My knowledge doesn't really cover the leaf springs for definite, but I am fairly sure that I've heard of other cars having them "modified" perhaps they are shortened slightly to do the job? The gas won't add that much weight, not to drop it that much any how! A lovely cheap experiment could be say 4 - 25kg bags of sand in the back?

Hiya Rob! I think a major setback would be the leaf spring set up for the rear suspension. I've seen a few adapted versions, but they all had a motorised ramp either to the side, or rear, which on these obviously works well because of the auto opening sliding doors and boot.

Hi Robbie, the battery problem is far worse on the diesels due to the much higher starting cranking effort required than our lightweight petrol engines. But that doesn't mean we can't be victims of some of the circuits starting to cause draining if it's not driven for a few days, one of mine had it intermittently!! Bizarre.

oh yes @@robbie2red I wish they were that simple and cheap, do I ever! and @@Ben2802 totally agree with you, SO FAR I've been lucky on this car that it hasn't had bodges. But it must have been built on a Monday morning after they'd been at an all weekend barbecue bender. Or the Friday afternoon when they were off to it and not concentrating. Not remotely the best of the three we've had. -
Stow n go? If you have removed the mirror the connector block on mine was in the space in the wing exposed with the doors open.

Hiya @@robbie2red mine was on full tilt and wouldn't turn off, popped the info on a resurrected post with @@crispinchurch recently. If you turned the power off it went to recirc but still on full speed, however the lights on the panel go out. Second time I've had it, much cheaper this time! Twenty quid, hope it lasts. -

Indeed yes the cap is far less likely if it's holding pressure - it's definitely pressure not sucking is it? As it could be too weak on one but ok on the other. And on the opposite side of the car. But, as it is on the opposite side of the car to the coolant appearing on the body , what's underneath on the drivers side? On the petrol engine there is a metal section of hose that corrodes, and also an "O" ring where it goes into the water pump. Lets hope it's a hose, I've had a couple of them too. Good luck pal.

Yes that's of course another fault - a lose hose. The expansion bottle cap has 2 functions, and therefore sections - 1) to keep it pressurised to a set level then release the "over pressure" value, which should just be air if the bottle is not over filled. Hence the value marked on it, possibly say 1.1 bar. 2) then allow air back into the bottle as the system cools and the pressure drops below its' set value, and as this happens the coolant level drops back into the system. So if the bottle cap isn't controlling the pressure at all properly, the water will expand when heated and piddle out of the top of the bottle - like my Galaxy just did. The expansion of water from 20 deg to 80 deg is 10%, a fair bit, so the pressure goes up and the air in the bottle is at pressure. On a house, "sealed" central heating systems, no tanks in the loft, as in combi boilers etc, we have expansion vessels, either usually in the boiler, or if they fail and can't be sensibly replaced (as on older boilers) an external red vessel connected somewhere on the heating pipework. A radiator cap as on my 3.3 GV performs a similar function, but the over pressure relief is coolant into the expansion bottle, then the smaller metal disc in the cap pulls down when the pressure drops to allow coolant back into the rad.

Hi Argee, I've recently had a similar experience on our 1.8 diesel Galaxy, at this point I've swapped the expansion bottle cap for a new one and it seems to be hopefully behaving itself. Because if the cap fails the coolant isn't pressurised so can boil up in the first instance - like yours and mine getting very hot - then will leak out, but we would be keeping a close eye on the temp hey!! Not sure what side the bottle is on yours?

Hi There! I'm sure the diesel guys will chip in shortly, but I'd guess it's the lack of fuel pressure problem that quite a few have had. Caused by a non return valve not doing its job, so fuel pressure isn't there. But that wouldn't usually add up for a hot start! And has it got a clean fuel filter, every little helps!
