Limp Mode Only 2Nd Gear But Its Not A Faulty Gearbox

Question

I hope there is someone out there as this has been driving me crazy for over a year

First I will try to describe what is happening

First thing in the morning I can drive for around 20mins or until the temperature gauge gets to just above 1/3 then a little shudder and straight into limp mode , turn it off and on again can drive a little further until limp mode comes back , but on very cold days and motorways it may never happen.

The engine light is on a lot of the time but has gone off again normally when its very cold , if I pull away hard it will usually go straight into limp mode regardless off engine temperature

These events have never changed with every repair i have done.

This is what i have done to try and cure it in order over the last year

Fluid change ATF+4

Solenoid pack cleaned filter change and gasket

New 95amp battery

Fluid change and new filter ATF+4

New Transmission radiator

Earth bonded Gearbox

New Transmission brain

New input and output speed sensors

Then New complete Transmission box, and Torque converter

Fluid change ATF+4

New Cam shaft sensor

New Glow plugs

New EGR valve

New EGR solenoid

I have checked as much as possible wiring looms for continuity and breaks

And one final issue that may or may not be connected is the interior heater never really gets that hot

When i retrieve error codes i get

0403

0100

0110

0380

0340

and in the last few weeks now have

0520

0480

0645

Please help !!!!

hi looking through my code book all your codes relate to circuit malfunctions

have you checked loom is connected to your ecu correctly

also check for moisture at the connecters where they meet ecu

i have v6 petrol my ecu sits behind nearside headlight and next to my battery

had fault in my loom had to take connecters off ecu

moisture can get inside and corrode pins

dont where your ecu is on diesels

hopes this helps

Hi

I had a similar problem with my 57 gv 2.8crd, so took it to chrysler main dealer as local garage tried everything they could think of with no cure.

car was put on their diagnostics machine & straight away identified the problem to be the gearbox control module relay part cost £90 + vat + fitting  & about 20mins to change problem fixed.

According to chrysler the relay was jamming open inside & causing the car to go in to limpmode once the car was warm & when the car cooled down the relay would close taking limpmode off until it got warm again.

Hope this helps.
