Just a thought, have you checked the little door switch? Could be dodgy or sticking, open the door and press the plunger a few times see if it does anything different.

Yeah very wierd that they changed that sort of thing on a face lift.
If I get chance at weekend I'll wizz the ones off my 2002 and see if they slide into my 2005, worth a shot hey.
We are nearer Stockport than Manchester, where abouts are you?

I've got bigger problems with my 2002 3.3. Only get limp mode. But ended up as they were not very expensive with 2 spare TCM's.
If you would like to borrow one to try you are welcome, if you cover the postage cost, if it works send me some more money, if not send it back!

But doesn't sound like an ecu as you say temperature affects it.

Yep, thats right, and don't be put off by "oh no it can't be done". A decent auto locksmith can and did do it. Once they had the pin number took about 10 minutes tops.
And my 2nd hand one works just fine on all functions.

My local shop-front auto locksmiths couldn't, they said it was a dealer only part and job.

In the same way that a tyre with a screw in the edge of the tread "can't be repaired" YES IT CAN. What they mean is we can't do it, because we don't have the ability to do a heat vulcanise repair. But most won't tell you the full detail and truth.

A good auto locksmith (not electricain) can program in a 2nd hand remote, I had one done, got it off ebay, and they should be able to cut a key with transponder and code it to the car as well.
They would need the pin number for the car to code in the remote, it's not the radio code.

There is a very good mobile guy near Manchester, but you don't say where you are

    Bloody bargain!!
i was quoted a fortune - around £400 - for the newer 5 button double push type. So I bought a second hand one and had a mobile guy code it in for £60.

I did buy an older 5 button single push from Chrysler in Barnsley, Yorkshire, for £65 though for a previous car.

And a key with transponder was around £60 from an independant, cut and coded in.

So all up, for Chrysler, good money hey guys?!

lovesmyvoyager - use that 15 / 40 to give your engine a good flush out of all that black cack.
And put some flush additive in the old crap oil before you drop it out - plenty hot - and you will see / feel a genuine difference.
Yes it will take you a bit longer on the drive, but worth it.

My time consuming technique for my vehicles (not every time guys no)
1 - drive the car get it hot, come home put the additive in, idle on the drive for recommended time until fans come in / go off (if they do on your diesels)
2 - drop old crap out. If you can bring yourself to do it swap an extra filter too.
3 - fill engine with your 15 / 40 (or in my case when I'm feeling OCD the flushing oil)
4 - run till hot again, or say 20 mins, with occasional fast idle
5 - drop that cack out and be surprised how black it still is
    6 - change filter
7 - put in your lovely new 5W-30 and be surprsed how clean it is, for a bit anyway!

So to sum up, in Britain, for diesels, without any silly extreme cold winter days, either 5W-30 or 10W-40 is fine.
And basically for petrol the same ultimately, but with preference to 5W-30, semi synthetic.
And don't stretch oil change intervals, especially if you do towing, lots of idling, short journeys, my book says 10,000km (6250 miles) in that instance, or twice that if considered "normal" driving routine.
Petrols are down to 3000 miles for town work etc!!!!! Or 7500 miles for normal use.
Or you choose obviously, it's your engine.

I was quoted nearly £400 from a Chrysler dealer for the unit for a 2005 model.

So...We had a second hand unit coded into ours, the (mobile) guys needed a PIN number that they got (£20) and charged £60 to do it.
    Remote came from ebay.

However our local specialists reckoned it was a dealer only job, obvioulsy it isn't.

    Hi Guys
Having struggled to find the correct type for the fog lamp bulb for the facelift model, with round fogs, I thought I would stick them on here for info now I've been under the car and popped one out:
Halfords list it incorrectly - anyone need some HB4 (9006) bulbs?

    Low Beam - H7
    High Beam - H9
    Side lights - W5W
    Fogs - H10 (also called 9145)

    Hope that helps someone.

On the low beam - try HID conversion kits - cheap as chips currently. I paid £12.99 inc delivery

Looks like a few of us have tried them!

    Cheers,
    Nev

I'm sure this is way too late but for future reference on the forum - Pentagon Chrysler in Barnsley, Yorkshire, have a very helpful parts department. I have just had the water and air con pipes from them, which run from under the drivers foot area to the 2 rear coils, heater and AC, supplied in 2 days, all 4 aluminium pipes £165.00!!!
Would not suggest a delivery as they are so massively long, one from breakers arrived bent in half, not much good.
    Complete sod to fit though!
And I have also done the pair of coolant pipes from behind engine on the bulkhead running down to meet these new pipes, leaking due to corrosion under the drivers foot area.
    Also a sod to do!
