  1. So, by sounds of it I have a transmission input bearing wearing out. With some more road testing it could become a worn release bearing or pilot bearing... Any ideas on the correct replacements on a 1.6 M-Jet?

    Could it be a release bearing???

  2. You can find the Marelli unit with the sat nav online (ebay) but the technology is obsolete and will not be an upgrade for your car. In addition, I have learnt in this forum that the two units (non sat-nav and sat-nav) are not directly intercheangeable, you will need to adapt the cables somehow. If you decide to install an aftermarket unit, please note that the factory Delta radio is single-din, therefore you will need to buy a single-din aftermarket radio with a new fascia that will also allow the buttons at the bottom. In any case (personal view) i would leave the radio as it is, the factory radio is of very good quality, the sound is superb and in addition it has zero boot-up time, you press the on button and the music starts. But this is just a personal view.

  3. Thanks for the advice. Turns out a half loose connection nd in need of a clean up on the connection was the issue! ??

    Sorry I am coming to this late, but the connection block between the body and the door is notoriously susceptible to loosening and allowing water into it, twist to open and blow both sides with air and clean the electrics with a proprietary cleaner and secure the connection again

  5. How are people getting on with tyre wear on lowered springs?

     

    My Pirellis need replacing at 10k miles due to wear on the inner shoulder, rest of the tyre looks great. On H&R lowered springs but budgeting £200 a year on tyres is not good!

    Check the camber, if it is within limits, then have the front tracking set up to the inner 'toe' limit

    My wife's Delta had an ongoing problem with eating the outer edges of the front tyres, when I had the tracking done,I had it set to the outer toe limit, all is good now

  7. Hi, welcome

     

    Not sure if there is a buyer guide, but mechanically the car is similar to a Fiat Bravo II and both seem fairly reliable.The engines are used across a wide range of FCA products from Alfas to Fiat 500s and seem fairly robust and economical. The car is made in Italy but do not expect a thrill a minute Integrale experience, this Delta is more refined and almost an Italian Rover or Audi. The main issue is that people, even car buff do not have a clue what it is although passengers in mine seem quite impressed once inside. Have a search on Instagram for how good they do look inside and out.

     

    That 'identity crisis' does make the car hard to price. There are only 900 or so on British roads so some are priced on how they look which can be high (see the £4k one on ebay, looks great) or quite cheaply as there is no real demand. At auction they will typically sell for around £1500. All cars are around 8 years old so expect some wear although mine at 123k miles is holding up rather well. Budget £300 or so for a cambelt at least.

     

    Living with it is not a straight forward as Golf, indicator click is stupidly quiet, you have to fold the rear seat down to remove the parcel shelf as the tailgate is smaller than the shelf, no obvious place to put glasses or phone. The feedback from the road is set more toward isolation that the involvement of an Alfa, not as crisp and direct, but more refined. The radio is a let down, trim can be plasticy in places too.

     

    On the plus side the driving position is good, engines have decent poke, the body shape still looks crisp and modern and owners of similar sized Mercs, Audis and BMWs do not have a clue what has zoomed past them. Get a remap and take on bigger cars, readily available as the engines are Alfa/Fiat. Parts cheap too for the mechanical stuff, just don't damage the body or interior.

     

    The one pictured is a base spec with an even more unloved semi auto gearbox with high is miles, at auction it would have been around £1k, OK for basic transport with a good discount but if the autobox goes wrong few will know how to fix, and probably due a belt change.

     

    Now is a good time to get a Delta, market depressed, little demand, confused identity, but reliable basics, distinctive looks, nice colour combinations, smart interior, no signs of rust and prices rock bottom. Seek the best specced one you can find and haggle.

  8. Same thing happened with my wife's Delta, I just replaced the switch and turned the ignition key on and off 11 times and that cleared the fault!!!

    You don't need access to the dealer, always.

    Better to find a decent independent or a former Chrysler dealer, I bought her car in Stafford from Arnold Clark trade sales

  9. hi after finally doing a bt of research can anyone help me out to see if these parts are compatible with my 2013 chrysler delta 1.6 multijet 120bhp diesel. i have read some very helpful comments here and although no replies yet i am thinking of buying these KYB FRONT COIL SPRING FOR FIAT BRAVO II 198 OEM RH3908 50707397 and KYB FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER LANCIA DELTA III 844 OEM 339785 50710404 has anyone any knowledge or experience. i know the last shock is advertised for lancia III but just checking.

    The Chrysler Delta IS a Lancia Delta 3 or 111

  10. a bit of a thread revival, but I have the following watch out to add

     

    the wind back process is different for each side Unlike most Italians I have come across where the piston going back into place clockwise, these Bosch pistons go clockwise for the drivers side and anti clockwise for the passenger side. It took me ages and c=a check on the Bravo forum to see where I was going wrong on the passenger side as my wind back tool is made to go clockwise, a new tool has to be bought that can go both ways, or else use brute force without the collar to get it to go the 'wrong way'.

  11. Hello,

     

    My question is regarding the Chrysler Delta.

     

    During the latest hot weather, part of the top of my dashboard covering has become unglued. Along the edge of the stitching it's lifted up out the the join. Any suggestions please as to what glue would hold it down again? And also how to get it back down again as it's seems to have shrunk ever so slightly and doesn't want to tuck back in again.
