  1. Exact same Gordy, Same car, same caravan lol.
I mentioned on another thread that I've applied for a job in Dumfries. It's 62 miles away, so need something a bit more fuel efficient, but also thinking of siting the caravan down there (Brandedleys) so I'm not travelling every day.

  2. I was thinking about selling it to be honest, as in before the accident, simply because I don't like towing with the Voyagers autobox. Towing, it's constantly kicking down on flat or hill, 2500-3000 revs and 15-18mpg. I love everything else about these cars. It's had the timing belt done 2 years ago, I got the autobox serviced, handbrake all replaced at last mot.

All the small issues were resolved quickly on this one, thermostat mod, battery button mod, power drain via the stereo.

There's a guy I know that loves these, think the family has 2 or 3, and the last time I spoke to him, he was looking for another one. If I can keep it for a good price, I'll see if he's interested. Keeping it would also mean I wont have to rush into a replacement.

Fingers crossed, I've a hire car for a week after the actual insurer tells us it's written off, so that'll let me hang off if their initial offer's too low.

  3. It's at the repair place just now, was informed late Friday it's getting written off, I'll speak to them Monday.
Even in the flesh it's hard to see much wrong with it.
I've used some free online valuations and it's around £2800-£3800 worth from a garage (replacement cost).
We'll see how it plays out. It's the other partys insurance, not our own that's dealing with everything.

  4. Well, the results are in, the GV is a writeoff. Lady pulled out from the side of the road and ran her car from the side door around the handle, along the front door and just caught the wing too.
Damage is a tiny dent on sliding door, a raised line on the drivers door and a small scratch, and 2 small scratches on the front wing.
The plastics also have a slight scuff.
All hardly noticeable, and invisible in the picture, but just over £3k at the bodyshop.

  5. Read this thread and thought, you know, in around 6 years over 2 GVs, I've never had that.
Just left work this morning, heard a click when turning out the car park, thought about this thread. Heard the odd noise on the way home, but when I got into the village, I started to hear a banging noise on bumps, which got louder over a couple of hundred yards.
Stopped and checked, play in the front passenger wheel. Nursed home another few hundred yards, just about to get the wheel off and have a look.

  6. My display was sitting at around 20mpg there, making sure all the tyre pressures were 36 has helped, it's currently at 25. (display is normally 2 mpg over actual mpg, if you work it out correctly). The 4 ranged from 31.5 to 35.5, so not massively under pressure.
I get the white smoke on startup, but it starts not too bad. A small jag of the throttle on really cold mornings. I'm also aware that I have a slight leak on one of the injectors.  Not done a leak off test.
Your posts spurred me on, off to order new copper washers and o-rings, and I'll carry out a leak off test over the weekend.

  7. In my 2002, I had fast flashing indicators. Turned out I had put a fuse in the wrong slot in a small fuse box in the boot. Returned it to the correct position, and the indicators went back to normal.
If this fuse has blown, it would probably have the same effect, or the equipment it is powering could be the cause.
It was tucked up behind where the jack is kept, can't remember exactly how to access it now, but it's in there somewhere. Possibly behind some sound deadening or similar.

  8. Glow plus light goes out in seconds but its active for a full 10 seconds + - use all of them. The LHS glow plug as you stand at the radiator is a pig to change and is usually never not tackled - problem. Third relay from the LHS as you stand at the radiator.

Alternator chucked it last week, wish I'd had a glowplug handy as it would have been easy.

If I ever do them, the alternator will be coming out.
