New Chrysler Gv Owner In Need Of Help

Question

Afternoon all

As the title suggests I'm a new owner of a 2004 GV 2.8 CRD and need help.

A month ago I noticed a different sound coming from the engine bay. kind of hard to describe, but it was almost like a different pitch. whacked it into the local garage who found that the AC pump/compressor needed replacing at £900!!!!!!!!

Now in the meantime the clutch on the ac pump/compressor has seized and snapped the belt. So the car is no longer drivable, well safely anyway.

I need the help of you good people to see if there is a cheaper way of doing this repair? Are there any places or people on eBay I can

get the part cheaper from? I've seen the ac pump/compressors on eBay, but how do I know its the right part? (i doubt myself a lot}

Also does anyone know of any independent Chrysler specialist near the heathrow area?

Please your support would be very welcome and much appreciated

kind regards

Gregg

Hi there and welcome!

There should be a number on the unit, but you may need to get under the car to see it.

Someone else may know if they are interchangeable too.

Not to doubt the word of a garage.......... but now the belt has gone can you get your hand on the AC pulley and not turn it?

Because the alternator pulley free wheel clutch has a habit of failing, and makes a strange "wuh wuh wuh" noise before it goes.
