  1. Unfortunate but they are no longer competeive when it comes to running costs....new Sharan alhambras and Galaxies 2.0 diesel manual = 38 to 58mpg, diesel Autos = 35 to 50mpg Grand Voyager 2.8 Diesel auto 28 to 35 mpg. Also the parts costs are prohibitive. Just ask the price of an Egr cooler = £900 plus Vat.
  2. Im sure you can get a bluetooth connected to the exhisting head unit which in my opinion is already quite powerful. It has a well sorted sound system.
  3. George my mechanic charges a flat fee of £180 plus parts.....that is the cheapest anywhere in the country i beieve.
  4. Hi there try ACD of Lancanshire. There is also a chrysler jeep breaker in Charlton, SE London. Cheers.
  5. Hi they are all like that. Its the design of the gearbox unfortunately. Thats why many opt for the auto but best fuel economy is with the manual. They are tough gearboxes though. You need to man up to drive one of these and eventually get used to it. Cheers.
  6. Hi there, i have owned mine for three years and have had plenty of parts replaced under the AA BRC. It now literally drives like a new car and i have full service history of every item of cash spent on my vehicle from day 1. I can honestly say a brilliant 7 seater in terms of ride comfort, practicality but has come at a price. Parts are expensive and given time, add on parts to the engine will need replacing. The engine (injectors aside) is very good, all the cooling system is good, but mine suffered a leak at the egr cooler, a pipe and now a leak from the waterpump area which is about 14 months old. BRC have agreed to replace. Thermostats are a weak point, and a few elecyrical problems, the cooling fans and the glow plug relay, all of which have been repaired. The near side window motor and regulator needed replacing. But engine starter motor alternator have never been replaced. Fantastic! Now mine drives perfectly and has no error codes on the diagnostic. There are very few dpecialists about, 1 in portsmouth, enfield and ACD of Lancs. Plenty of second hand parts available. But parts are costly. But its by far the 7 seater i have had. Injector problems will appear on many now. I have had all 4 changed on my vehicle. Wheel bearings are strong, chrome wherls need persistent sealing. Alarm immobilisor never given problems. Check for oil leaks, if there is a leak, probably from the crankshaft oil seal. Cost AA BRC £575 inc new clutch. Clutches seem to last 80 to 100k. Once you have full 140bhp from the engine, it is a willing performer. Good torque. Never heard of turbo failure on these. They are a good point. Good luck.
  7. You could ask Fiat as they now own Chrysler.

    Hello

Welcome to first class in Mpv ownership. The costs can be prohibitive as the parts costs are even dearer now that fiat own Chrysler. VM engine while good can require egr cooler, thermostat and other parts.
  9. Hi there its a big heavy car but does not have a dual mass flywheel. The cost should be no more than £350 inc parts.
  10. Hi if you need space then this is te mpv to have. I have 5 kids all grown up and we have done many road trips where the kids sit in comfort and enjoy the dvd player and ps2 with wireless headphones. Look for one with full service history and make sure you get AA BRC on it as the AA have paid out in excess of £2000 for various issues, mine has had EGR COOLER, £1300, Glow Plug Relay £135, 2 Injectors £700, now the water pump has failed £350.00, crankshaft oil seal inc clutch £525. It now drives and performs like a new car. After the EGR cooler was replaced, there was a massive improvement in performance, accelerating more responsive, it is like a new car. Around town short journeys the car will drink the juice, but on the motorways you will gey between 40 and 50 mpg, averaging out at around 38mpg if you drove from london to scotland on a full load. Sears are very comfortable and other things like starter motor, alternator and cooling system last long. Mine is still on its original parts for these. Battery has to be main dealer. I have the new gel ones. Apart from that they are very comfortable and the 2 2 3 seating arrangement is perfect. Good luck in purchasing one. Mine will be up for sale soon as my kids have grown up. Its a perfect vehicle with full service history.
  11. On mine i bought a new resistor from chrysler, failed after 9 months, got a free replacement which then failed after 4 months. Because tbe original was replaced, it was out of warranty. Chrysler suggested the fan was at fault. Got second hand blower fan £40 from chrysler breaker ACD, which sits under the passenger side of the dash, replaced fan and fitted new resistor. All working brilliant now. These cars are getting old and the maintenance upkeep is getting costlier. Thousands have been spent on my car.
  12. Process of elimination on my car. I had injectors 2 3 and 4 replaced as they were leaking, but no 1 was never replaced. It still chucks a little smoke for about 2 seconds but a lot less than before. As these chryslers get older, they will start to do this according to the chrysler specialist in Enfield. They have a full diagnostic machine. What you could do is a process of elimination on yours. Change each injector and see whats happenning.
  13. Chrysler specialist in Enfield, north London. Look in Google.
  14. Mine was doing that. Does your glow plug light take ages to go out? If so, Its to do with one of your injectors not getting primed buy the glow plugs. I changed no1 injector as the other 3 have been changed at some point. Car starts beautifully now no problems.
  15. Hi and welcome to the Grand Voyager owbers Club. These are beautiful and comfortablevto drive as with age the maintenance cost keeps increasing. The oil leak will be from your crankshaft oil seal. I had mine done under Aa Breakdown repair cover. They also approved a new clutch due to contamination. Total cost was £575 but AA BRC contributed £465. Mine is now 148,000 miles old and is now suffering a coolant leak by the water pump or head gasket. Brc will cover that. Aa Brc is essential for this car.
  16. Cooling fans required an electrical repair. Wires going into the ecu. Coolant temp sensor changed all working fine now. Chrysler dpecialist in Enfield. Also if your glow plug light takes ages before it goes out you need to change at least one injector. Chaged #1 all working fine....
  17. Hi there it takes 10 minitues to remove the lower dash area where the steering wheel is. Bottom panel, romove all screws visible then pull bottom panel off. Remove more screws and remove more panels. Get a torch and look to see if there is a rubber gromit in place blocking a hole. Open the bonet and look right into the corner. If the gromit is not there you will be able to see inside your car. Get some silicone to block this hole.
  18. Hi there i found out why the cooling fans are on all the time. I have a water leak from the EGR Cooler. The relays are all fine. This is why the temp gauge is reading minimum all the time. AA paying £465 but EGR COOLER IS £920 INC VAT plus 2.5 hours to fit. So if you have a problem where your chrysler grand voyager has its cooling fans on all the time, it would mean that the EGR COOLER is causing it. Thank you and i hope this will help others. For the record my Chrysler Grand Voyager has been a brilliant 7 seater the best i have had. Comfortable and roomy. Cheers.
  19. Hi all, was hoping to find some answers. I have Chrysler Grand Voyager 2.5 Diesel 2002 and my cooling fans are on all the time. I have had the thermostat replaced and a coolant temperature sensor changed. Still no luck. Do i need a chrysler diagnostic machine to fix this or is there an electrical fault? It hapenned after i broke down with injectors 2,3 and 4 failure. Aa restarted car and fans kicked on. Injectors replaced and fans still on permanently....driving me mad....temp gauge is on minimum all the time. I get heat through the heaters. Everything else on my car runs fine.
  20. Hi all just to introduce myself. A Chrysler Owner with some minor niggles hoping to find help here. Thanks.
