  2. The Monroe 40201 are a Nivomat shock. They would be appropriate for a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country [read Voyager], as long as this vehicle was built with the Nivomat suspension from the factory. By Monroe C. Manufacturer on January 10, 2018 [Pulled from Amazon US...$236]
  3. Monroe 40201...Im told this is a direct alternative...
  4. The guy I bought from had purchased the vehicle for sole purpose of family tour of the Broads. He was intending to sell pretty quick after but timing went apparently. I saw the receipt...which was dated 2 weeks afore I acquired it. He was quite honest about the whole thing. I do think that if the mech was told fix quick as its to be sold they may have just re-used original coolant etc. I do know once I reached destination [spain] I gave more than a cursory look, the most chocolate looking coolant Ive ever seen. I did try and get my daughters local mech to do a flush and good 'health check'..wouldnt go near the thing save for wheel balance on all 4. Me thinks it was a job half done to be honest All vehicles have their 'funnies' its just finding them. I work in the USA for some months of the year, have an old Chevy Suburban [454 7.4l petrol] Every year you have to check/change all oil lines, they become porous and seep, extremely cheap tho. Anyway tks for the note and heads up.
  5. Drove to Spain in December [maybe 5 weeks after purchasing 2007 gen 4..2.8l] On all hills of note [up to 5k ft] temp gauge touched red. I turned on the blower of course to help dissipate the heat. Nothing in tow, only 1 passenger..me. The guy I purchased from showed me the bill/receipt for new water pump, timing etc. However on checking expansion tank... rusty as can be..Surely new coolant would have been used, maybe not a full flush thru laziness. I dont have probs with pre heat not working, once up to temp sits all day...Just hates the hills, like the days before variable timing etc. Actually on the decline and with extra speed the temp drops very rapidly. Another thing I noticed was on the flat, if you give it some juice I was surprised how rapid it is, but the hills, without a fierce kick-down it slows remarkably quickly down to 40mph from say 80...as if no torque. Maybe Im just new to these and tis how it tis Thanks for any comments k
  6. Is there any chance the Uk/Europe versions of the Dodge Caravan/Town N Country [same years] will interchange certain parts..Full suspension packages are extremely inexpensive..even for the specialized gear. [i spoke with a local mech who tells me there's a myriad of aftermarket choices at a fraction of OEM...Course he has no clue on EU models]
  7. To be honest here they're not considered cheap. They look so but then at checkout they hit you with delivery charge..which often is not cheap I went to the dealership and got a few things, cheaper as no delivery costs than Rockauto. Use .com to browse..not .co.uk and you'll get dealers in Mopar parts
  8. Hi 6months owner of a gen 4 [auto crd] Am in the states for couple more months, wondered what breaks most? Just bought a few solenoids [was throwing the code] for the egr as couldnt locate one in the uk. Have a Chrysler next door and two Mopar around the corner. Any pointers much appreciated Being honest I got peed at not finding..even from a dealership a egr solenoid [had to pull and seal the tube to make it run] Just had front bearings done in UK...SIX HUNDRED QUID..you cant guess how cheap they are here. So, as I say pointers would be big help Thanks K
  9. Stick on is easy..However, Im out in the USA til April, actually just bought a few things for my 2007 GC.. [egr solenoid for one...couldnt find one in uk anywhere] so source what or give me part numbers and I'll take a look
  10. Any ideas on where to find this part other than the States or Germany [Rockauto is a no..its Mopar only] Changed the egr and related parts to find the solenoid is intermittent. Rough running and black smoke, disconnected the vacuum hose to the solenoid. blocked the ends and runs fine [to a point] Thanks Keith
  11. Thanks Nev Previous owner had the timing belt and water pump done maybe couple months ago [have the receipts] However I have seen old fluid re-used in the past. Also dont think Ive ever seen expansion so thick of rust/sediment. Pretty sure a good top down flush thru wasn't undertaken. Sadly these days strict maintenance schedules aren't thought of until your sat waiting for the AA truck to arrive. I'll check on the forum you suggest. BTW..I reconnected egr this morn..intermittently still showing code for short on solenoid [ valve is fine, as mentioned thoroughly checked] Cant seem to source a stand alone solenoid....They must be out there as a spurious one is fitted..no markings nor part number. Thanks again.
  12. Just purchased a 2007 grand Stow N Go Had the vehicle health checked by excellent mechanic [friend] It was throwing the egr solenoid open code. He cleaned the valve and did all the tests tosee if functions ok, appears it does. Plugged it back in then tested down the road, plume of black smoke. He disconnected the hose from the valve and drove great..kinda. He says the solenoid is a spurious make with no part numbers. Wondered is the solenoid available without having to purchase valve assembly too? Anyway, I left for europe midnite sailing. It appears to run ok...However as I began to climb the hills from France into Spain the temp soared to just under red, I backed off to 40mph in an attempt to not pass the red line...Kept climbing into red then back down to mid on the decents. I found that once back at sea level mid temp it stayed. Am I stupid in thinking that the altitude [less oxygen] is playing with the mixture. Can't believe a relatively modern vehicle could suffer such. BTW...have noticed if I kick down it does smoke some...otherwise performs ok. Have to say Im a little bit bitten by the thing,comfort,..and extras not seen in many. Keith.
