I think the legend of German reliability is much exaggerated so I was being a bit tongue in cheek about Italian reliability. It's odd these days that the public have very entrenched ideas in their head about different brands that don't seem to be able to be broken, even the VW emission scandal hasn't persuaded the public that German engineering is partly smoke and mirrors.

I think who's owned it and where it was serviced might be more significant than mileage, mine is up to 78k now can't say that it seems much different to when I bought it. Had a new air con rad and the egr cooler other than that just tyres and servicing. It's still even on the original discs and pads. I'm a bit bored with mine now but it's difficult to replace especially as I could end up with something without Italian reliability.

Delta diesels don't have stop start (well 2 litre ones definitely don't, fairly sure 1.6 doesn't either)

It's 15 inch, however I've never tried it on the car so I only have the seller's word that it's off a bravo (not very likely to have sufficient spare time/energy to check!). I had to cut down the plastic tray when I changed to a full size 18 inch spare, the good news is that it can be made to fit. Originally I had the pump and gunk set up, never liked the idea of that stuff.

I think the Vauxhall one is the same but don't know for certain, the latest fiat one differs slightly from the original as well. Shop4parts sell it

four and a half years plus for me, it's been a generally dependable car although I never found it very good for the image as most folk seemed to initially see it as weird in a bad way and now as time has gone on and other cars become, sort of, more similar it blends in and seems bland(?). It's like a pair of old slippers, comfy slightly worn around the edges, and almost worthless in the open market but I can't imagine how I'd replace it. Could do with something more exciting to drive sometimes though, I really must get that Volumex finished!

Never been stopped in mine and it's been properly badged for most of the over 4 years I've had it. I don't think there's any law that says any car requires any identifying badges at all only that it must display a number plate.

Possibly a brake light switch problem?? Hill holder probably relies on same switch to know when the brake is released

You need multiecuscan software and then need to clear both service and oil degradation counters. If you are going to keep the car a while and do your own servicing and diagnostics is well worth buying as it will soon pay for itself. You need to run it on a laptop and get a set of connectors for the OBD2 socket.

I never use/rely on it, it's just a minor function of the abs that they can probably enact for a few pence in the software and looked good in the sales brochure keeping the marketing department happy, I just thank God that it doesn't have an electronic hand brake the true work of the devil

The momo design s series grille looks perfect on a grey car, definitely the way to go although they are very expensive at list price, definitely best found on eBay

It continues to run fine, no plans to change I don't think any car justifies the cost of a change as to get anything better would need a big expense (and I don't have spare cash anyway). I changed the tyres a while back to Goodyear eagle asymmetric 3 and they really suit it drives the best ever on them, I also got hold of a full sized spare wheel which makes me feel more secure on long drives.

Not sure what to think about that! It should find where you are fairly quickly and show on screen, I will need to have a look when I'm next in the car if there's anything in the settings that could cause this. Afaik it's not bothered what country you are in and it has whole Europe maps

It's easy to swap the front cover from an ypsilon single phase airbag onto the Chrysler two phase one you just need to feel brave but actually I don't think it's very dangerous!

I thought this might make a good venue for an informal meet up, it is always a great meeting with lots of entertaining racing plus some truly superb rare cars in the car park and paddock.

Can I suggest that anyone wanting to meet up parks in the area near Mansfield corner (fork off to the right after going through the main entrance from the A153)

I usually try to get there mid-morning so that there's plenty of time to look around before the racing starts.

As regards kwikfit I had a quick look for my 18s and compared with black circles or tyre shopper they do seem to have the edge with the cashback, not sure I could bring myself to buy from them though their bad reputation has took them years of effort to build up and not sure that I should ignore it!
