  1. ok QinteQ im going to order some 1w resistors i just wanted to sure it was 33000 ohms that was needed and not 33 ohms or 330 ohms.
  2. ok i've ordered some some of these to do the button mod ,can i use the same one in the MAF sensor ? Im curious to know what happened to the original resistor ? i didn't find it in the turbo or the air inlet.
  3. Its the actual interior heating/cooling air temperature fan that comes out of the central console. I turn the key in the ignition and before engaging the starter it comes on. So I turn it off by pressing the dial/knob ,then the next time i go to start it comes on again.
  4. Sorry I wasn't clear,it's the heating /ventilation fan that comes on automatically when I turn the key in the ignition.
  5. 12.6 v this morning after having left the iod fuse out.
  6. Of the 5 I think the first 3 are radiator fan relays, and the 5th (grey) is the glow plug relay ?
  7. This is what my MAF sensor looks like,it seems as though there should be a wire here. Some examples of the same sensor i've seen do have a wire and some don't,does it make a difference ? (and how do i delete a post i've put this up twice )

  9. The fan comes on as soon as I turn the key in the ignition,so I press the power knob and shut it down because I don't want the battery to be under load. It doesn't seem normal,is there an easy fix ? Or maybe someone could point me to a thread where it's discussed.
  10. The new fuse blew straight away so I presume it's the same problem as Andy's. Is it the cause of my low fuel pressure woes ? I can't be sure.
  11. I've just noticed that the fuel heater fuse is missing,i've put a new one in. When i got the the car the fuel heater electrical plug that connects to the bottom of the fuel filter wasn't connected ? Could there be a reason for this ? what would the consequences be on fuelling? The fuel filter housing is in good condition there are no signs of leakage or cracks.
  12. Hi could someone help me identify these relays or give me the link to a post that does. Cheers.
  13. 12.5v this morning, it was raining I noticed some water ingress into the engine bay from the scuttle tray ! is this common ?
  14. So will I be safe with the button mod ??
  15. From what i gather everyone seems quite resigned to the fact that there's draw on the battery in these cars. So hopefully with the button mod and a good trickle charger the battery life might stay decent. I'm fortunate in so much that where i live we get a lot of sun. Thanks for those figures for testing the sensors I'll give it it go and keep you informed. I've already had the egr and turbo out and everything appeared fine. So I'm really hoping that it's the MAP.
  16. Ok quick update battery was at 12.5v this morning, started 1st time. Battery was charging at 14.2 whilst running. I went for a 30 min drive cut the engine and the battery was at 14.83. It hasn't cured my P0235 code (boost) a new MAP sensor is due in the post.
  17. I've been having the the classic low fuel pressure problems in my 2.8 crd. Hard to start, constantly having to hand prime to start and press the accelerator. I checked the filter housing for leaks, and the fuel filter everything seems ok.I did the leak back test on the relief valve on the rail and that seemed fine so I was really starting to think fuel solenoid on the pump or dribbling injectors. Anyway today I changed the battery from a 560A 70AH to a 800A 85AH I had to chop the tray but eventually got the bigger unit in place. Low and behold the car started without any assistance !! After a couple of minutes the cooling fan kicked in and then stopped ( is this normal ?) It seems like a different car. Its early days and we'll see how it goes but it's looking promising for now. I think i'll be looking at doing the Leedsman's battery mod as well.
  18. ok,releived to see the site up and running again
  19. Couldn't connect for a few days does anyone know what the problem was ?
  20. Hello everyone I know it's been a long time luckily i haven't needed to use the car ,so i've had time to remove everything when i've had the time. So I finally got to the turbo and it was fine i checked everything cleaned the EGR high wasn't very dirty and the pipe back to the inlet manifold. I checked the condition of the small hoses from the solenoid-ok. I replaced the thermostat and used new joints on the exhaust manifold and turbo. I also used contact cleaner on all the plugs including the ecu. I took everything out from the front and it was A REAL PITA !!! I've got piece of mind that it's not egr or Turbo related but i've still got P0235 and i can feel the lack of boost. I've ordered a new MAP we'll see how that goes. And i've still got low fuel pressure issues high which I'll tackle in this order - filter housing ( even though there no signs of leakage on the present one ) - injector cleaner directly into fuel filter (in case of leaking injectors) - new relief valve ( even though i've tested the present one for leak back, which there isn't) - new fuel pressure regulator. - clean fuel tank - injectors ??
  21. Could anyone explain this hose to me ? it's attached to the air intake pipe and it goes to the cam cover it has a probe attached and an electrical plug that is quite oily ! The vehicle is a 2.8 crd,I'm in the process of removing the turbo, egr and water pump.
