Rockers Broken Due To Timing Belt?

Question

Hi all. ive recently purchased a used Grand Chrysler Voyager and put it in for a service and to get the timing belt replaced. got the car back, drove it for 1 day and it conked out. The garage has had it for weeks now and i have just been told that the problem is that 4 rockers are broken. i believe this would have been caused by a fault with the timing belt but the garage is denying this. can anyone help?

when it conked out was it clattering ?

Do you know if the new belt has snapped or not ?

I would imagine that considerable force is required to bust a rocker, and I would be worried about piston and valve damage too

when you brought the car was it from a dealer - ie is there a warranty ?

Good luck

The rockers are designed to break before any major damage occurs. If the belt has slipped causing valve contact/broken rockers, then it appears there is an issue from just having the belt done??

There is also an issue that the rollers on the rockers wear, breaking where not running in line, but cause a misfire where the valves are not opening.
