  1. Hi, well Ive finally had enough of being a Citroen owner all the bills for problems this year have finally taken their toll with hydraulic suspension issues. The car has been off the road for three months this year At 16 years old I think Ive had a good run in the 1.9td Xantia estate she is only at 177k but the engine has had to be rebuilt recently as she threw a cambelt 24 k before time as the crankshaft pulley shattered. a new heater matrix two years ago meant another 3 months off the road to get the job done cheaply enough when the mechanic had the time. sorry about the complaining about another make but I guess I need to explain why I am here. Ride quality for me is a big issue as my body is full of inoperable hernias after working many years lifting snooker table slates before the days of strict health and safety rules. so the Citroen has given me that softer ride that I am looking for and having looked around at Used motors the Chrysler Pt cruiser seems to have a good write up from owners who say it is a comfortable car to ride in. I am not in the position to be able to afford a brand new motor and I have largely maintained my own cars for many years in the past doing jobs like changing a camshaft rebuilding a complete engine with new rings and seals, changing clutches and doing my own brakes, changing engine oils every 3k etc. as I get a bit older now I tend to trust my Citroen specialist in Huntingdon who does most of the harder work for me and he apparently likes the Pt cruiser to work on, so that's a plus for me. and at £35 an hour labour charge it really helps the pocket. What I would like to know please is as much technical info as people can spare about the Chrysler Pt Cruiser 2.2 Diesel I heard somewhere that some have a Merc engine does anyone know which models please? are there any real issues or problems to look out for when looking to buy one? service intervals etc, most of them seem to have really low mileage ie just run in for a diesel below 100k They seem to have been taken care of if the body work is anything to go buy . I don't have a great deal of cash maybe 2 grand to find one my insurance has dropped significantly in the last year as Ive got to the grand old age of 50 now, so insurance for PT will be no more expensive than the 1.9td Xantia. If you have any informed info on this model I'd be very grateful if you would be so kind as to share it. I know its a quirky looking car but I have my reasons there I also own a 1987 Citroen 2cv. so I'm expecting some ribbing for that anytime soon. Thanks in advance. regards. Nigel.
