  3. I gat a 2008 18 months ago and side doors used to play up, sometimes close fully others part close then reopen. I got some Maintenance spray (WD40) and cleaned the tracks, rollers and anything that moved when the doors moved and operated them manually a few times to ensure everything free and easy. No further problems, it may be down to lack of use hence something like a roller may be tight. I also use some engine oil on the moving parts now and again as this works better than WD 40 for actual lubrication. Do NOT use grease as this only covers the outside parts and no penetration to axles and pivots.
  4. I was closing the tailgate when I heard a loud metallic crack and it stopped moving. Let’s get some tools out and remove the trim that covers the motor, Low and behold its chain driven; Motor drive chain which moves a slider up and down a guide had snapped. So off to my local engineering parts supplier and ordered some 3 spring links (only 2 damaged but got an extra one as spare) which arrived the next day. With the new chain links in my grubby little hands, I rushed home and with a bit of patience chain repaired and readjusted all is now well. With £5.00 spent and about 2.5 hours of my time this was an inexpensive and easy repair. This is not a good design as the guide and slider run at angle to the perpendicular and the adjuster lock screw was not very tight. If the adjuster is not checked occasionally and the chain becomes loose it can jump the lower sprocket. If you are lucky, it’s just a simple job to relocate the chain on the sprocket and adjust. If you are unlucky, the chain breaks. Dread to think how much the agent would charge, assuming they would replace the damaged links.
  5. Haynes Repair Manual, number 30014. DODGE Grand Caravan CHRYSLER Town & Country 2008 thru 2012 includes Caravan Cargo This manual will give most of the imformation required to repair your UK model. The biggest fault with the manual is that the 2.8 Diesel Engine option is not covered. 3.3 - 3.6 - 3.8 and 4.0 litre V6 petrol engines covered
  6. Job done, tourque wrench, few sockets and spanners or wrenches depending which sde of the pond you live on. Purchased a Haynes manual for DODGE Grand Caravan / CHRYSLER Town & Country, 2008 thru 2012 (Haynes number 30014), the manual differs slightly from the Grand Voyager mainly as no showing diesel engine opyion. Loosened drive shaft centre bolt and wheel/lug nuts, off came the wheel (Left Hand Front), brake housing, disc, disc back plate, drive shaft nut and hub mounting bolts. Removed failing hub and electrics (Slight noise when turning to right and a slight knock when brakes applied hard), and cleaned up hub mounting area with fine emery strip and refit everything in the reverse order. Tighten wheel/lug nuts, bolts & drive shaft shaft nut to correct tourques. Job completed in about 2.5 hours as this was the first time I have changed one of these hubs, if required again would probably take under 2 hours. Caution NO FREE PLAY IN HUB WAS DETECTED on of off the vehicle. Part supplied by Rockauto at a cost of £133.00 including shipping, this is a whole lot cheaper than CHRYSLER dealers here in the UK
  7. My car model is a "TOURING" and does not have roof rails/bars that run the length of the vehicle, can I fit the roof rails/bars from another 5th generation vehicle and how are they fitted.
  8. Can anybody tell if any stow & go tow bar will fit my car or will it have to be for 5th generation only. Who can supply a tow bar for this 2008 vehicle, preferable with a flange fitting for combination hitch (Ball & Pin type).
  9. Can anybody tell me how to change the front wheel bearings on my 2008 Grand Voyager. I have a very slight noise from my Left Front (N/S/F) wheel when turning to the right, but have found NO play in the hub.
  10. Thank you for that info, I am currently asking an agent if "level gauge" as the yanks call it. "Dipstick" to us; is available as a spare part & cost. Can't be driving to an agent just to check trans oil.
  11. Can anybody help. My 2008 (Series V), 2.8 crd 6 speed auto, has a plugged end on the transmission level/filler tube. Is this plugged tube the same size as the unplugged tube, if this is the same; can I purchase a transmission dipstick to check my own level How can I remove this plug without damaging it to check if a dipstick is in there as part of the plug. Absolutely Crazy Idea to have to use the agent for a transmission oil level check
  12. I have recently purchase a 2008 Grand Voyager Touring as I have just retired. Loads of grandchildren is the main reason for buying this vehicle as it has LOADS of space. I had a Chrysler LeBaron up to about 9 months ago, but I bought a Chevrolet Astro Starcraft Day Van for the additionsl seating, this was a big disappointment due to lack of space and the seats cannot be lowered/flattened to floor level. Confort beyond belief as one sank into the extremly large leather seats, suspension was also allittle too soft for me (handled like a bathtub full of water on casters) so that was sold for the Grand Voyager and I am hoping for a troublefree ownership as I had with my last Chrysler (1 lightswitch & convertible top second hand motor) in the 5 summers I had it.
