I mean the lights flicker on and off and some times they don't come on at all and then the speedo and rev counter and fuel gauge stop working for days at a time?

I have just bought a 2.2crd pt cruiser 2004 and i have a problem with the dasboard lights coming on and off, somebody told me it was the ignition switch so i bought a new one and fitted it ? but I still have the problem with the lights coming on and off, it drives fine and all of the general electrics work fine, but it seems like intermittent power to the dash. can any body shed some light on the problem.
