  1. Thanks for the info mate. I'll do a bit of research too and maybe buy one.
  2. I think you are gonna be the test pilot for the rest of us mate. I'd be interested to know how it goes. I've considered buying a scanner myself but don't know which one to get. How much was the Bluedriver?
  3. No mate. I never go to Chrysler. My garage has more than one type of code reader available to them. Also, code readers need regular software updates. It's a blind science this stuff, like I said before, give me old school.
  4. It's a nightmare, it took me less than a minute to disconnect and remove the old battery and then connect up the new one. Next time I change the battery I'm gonna get a second one, wire it up to the terminals so that when I disconnect the battery the car still has power. The canbus obviously doesn't like being starved of power even for a few seconds. Gadge... you're gonna have to take it to a friendly mechanic and get a code reader attached to clear the error codes mate.
  5. I had exactly the same problem. I replaced the battery then the ESP, ABS, and engine light came on. Took the car to my mechanic, he plugged in his code reader and successfully cleared all the faults. Cost me 40 quid on top of the price of the battery. Damn these modern cars with their canbus computer systems. Give me old school. Is the car running fine? Maybe try it again using another make of code reader?
  6. Sadly I think that's the case. Don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but earth yourself before touching the board. Also, how big is your soldering iron? I also had to replace those lights so I bought a soldering iron with a very fine end. You don't want to get that solder anywhere other than where it should be. But what a ridiculous set up those lights are! Every other car I've had the instrument lights that either screw in or are bayonet fittings. Having to get solder out is just stupid.
  7. Yes mate. Change the headlight switch. It's a common cause for flickering headlights. Go to www.1aauto.com for quality video on how to replace the switch. You'll find switches on ebay, but there's no guarantee they ain't knackered too.
  8. I was thinking... I had a similar problem years ago on a motor with a petrol engine. It turned out to be the airflow sensor.
  9. Was it all working fine before you took it apart? If so then it has to be your soldering fix mate. Those circuits boards are very delicate things. Static electricity from your fingers, too much heat can fry the chips. Your best bet now is to buy a second hand heater control on ebay. Try these boys https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/chryslerfennsbay
  10. It could be a blocked diesel injector or two. Every ten fill ups I pour in a bottle of Wynns Diesel Injector cleaner.
  11. Good lad. What a coincidence, Stevenage is my home town. A black tourer is cool. You'll have to get those windows limo tinted though. Like I said, there are plenty about, so if you're not sure, walk away and go look at the next one. Having said that, the 300c is an eyeful, when you walk up to it your heart says buy it and your head says hang on a minute. The driver's seats often wear on the outside edge. They suffer from front suspension noises. The diesel engine is a Mercedes unit and if taken care of should be good for at least 200,000 miles. However, the damn thing takes nine litres of synthetic oil, so an oil change will cost you 100 quid even if you do it yourself. But never mind all that, you've now got a hankering for a 300. The only cure is to get one. If you don't you'll regret it. Welcome to the club mate.
  12. Definitely buy it mate. Get rid of that granddad Rover 75 that's costing you money. When was the last time a ten year old kid turned his head at that old thing? Go on, treat yourself to the 300c, you'll be the boss cruising in that and you'll have to get used to the attention it gets. Now, I'm not gonna tell you it's super reliable. But you're throwing cash at that old 75. Get rid and spend the cash on the 300c. You say it's up for less than three grand? That's no money mate. But don't buy the first car you see. There are plenty around, a quick internet search will bring up loads. In my opinion, a 300c has to have 20 inch alloys at least, 22s would be better. 18s look too small on such a big car. Treat yourself Jamie, you owe it to yourself. Dooo it, dooo it, dooo it
  13. https://youtu.be/V-CaSvoJGy8 Might be of use to you.
  14. When I took my 300 to Braybrooks I watched him fit the new one. You can't run a separate lead to the amp, there is no terminal available on the amp to connect the lead. I was getting sound but the amp would suddenly turn off. They had to order a special harness adaptor from the states. Give Braybrooks a call and speak to Neil. After working on mine he's become a bit of an expert on this.
  15. Google is a wonderful thing: http://www.autorepaircentre.com/garage-services/Chrysler-Repairs-Newcastle_upon_Tyne.html I have found mechanics happy to work on the 300c, but then again I also found mechanics who won't touch it. What seems to scare them are the electrics. Chrysler took the Mercedes-Benz electrics but messed about with them creating a Chrysler/Merc mongrel. I get the excuse "...my diagnostic computer can't read it..." You'll find someone mate.
  16. If the headlamps flicker the common consensus is the headlamp switch needs replacing.
  17. Does anyone know the location of alarm siren? Mine no longer chirps when I lock or unlock the car.
  18. Mate, I've recently had exactly the same problem. My factory fitted stereo packed up. Chrysler want £2,100 for a new one! So I replaced it with a Sony DIN system. I searched Google and YouTube and it didn't look easy, so I went to a professional stereo company. My car has a Boston amplifier. The problem you have is the factory stereo talks to the car's computer through the CANBUS wiring network. When you turned on your old factory stereo it spoke to the computer, the computer then told the amp to switch on, and also activated the steering wheel controls and display up on the dash. Your new aftermarket stereo isn't talking to the computer. The company I used had to order a special wiring adaptor from the good ol' US of A. You'll have to do the same my friend. Call Braybrooks in-car Entertainments for advice. Based in Tewin, Hertfordshire and ask for Neil. 08000 520 292. www.braybrooks.co.uk It'll work mate, you just need to spend more money on it.
  19. This is probably the best tip I've ever read regarding the 300c. Nice one!
  20. Eve, I'm afraid there is no saving it. it's kaput. It is a very poor unit and there are many posts on the web where owners report issues with the stereo. A few months ago my hard drive crashed. Turned on the system, the warning message appeared and would not go. Nothing I did worked, no radio, no CD, no hard drive, no sat nav. Then after a week it started working again. But a few weeks ago it packed up again. I phoned Chrysler and asked how much a new one would be. £2,100!!!!! What? Yeah, thanks mate. The only thing you can do is replace it with an after market unit. I bought a Sony DIN system, but it's not a straight swap. Mine has a Boston amplifier. The factory fitted stereo is connected to the car's computer and CANBUS wiring system. So when you turn on the stereo it sends a message to the computer which then wakes up the amplifier and sends signals to the display on the dash and tells the steering wheel controls to work. But the after market systems don't talk to the computer or CANBUS. All this meant I had to get my Sony professionally fitted. Even then there were issues which the professional fitter struggled with. It cost me £600 to replace and fit.
