  1. No providing you power down the car properly you should be fine.

OK, Thanks. I've done this a few times on my MG ZTs and Rover 75s when I've had to strip an interior. I guess it's just the usual disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes, or is there something more to it on the Delta?

  2. Hello and welcome ForzaLancia.

I'm new to the fold too having picked up a 1.6 SR manual about 3 weeks ago. My first foray in to Italian cars and so far I'm enjoying it. I was looking for quite a while and missed out on at least 3 with traders up here in Central Scotland. They seem to have a bit of a "following" and one trader in Glasgow must absolutely love them. In the time I've been looking he had 4, sold them all quickly for decent money too.

I eventually tracked mine down on a private sale via eBay. 49k, decent service history; a pre-reg then one owner. Sadly the owner had passed away and his son was selling the car. Due to the bereavement, it had missed a service and timing belt change, they wanted £3750 and I ended up getting it for £3300. I thought that was pretty good; up here traders would have wanted at least a grand more for a similar car.

    Good luck in your search

  3. Nice pics well done on the rebadging.

When I bought my delta the last service was from these guys

They mentioned they had done a rebadge for another delta around 700 for full rebadge including software load up screen and steering wheel etc

Thanks. Unfortunately they're quite a way from me :) I sourced the Grille, badges and centre caps for about £200, and I'm not averse to a bit of diy. In fact, I'm currently doing a quick refurb on the diamond cut alloys; I just couldn't live with the wheel worm on the polished bits.

I may give them a call to see if they can source airbag and head rests though.

  4. Nice one TJB - where did you get the wheel centres from and can you confirm the Part number?

I got them from an eBay seller in Poland. They were listed as an Ypsilon part but they fit and match perfectly. Unfortunately they were sent without FCA packaging so I don't have the part number, sorry.

  5. …. and so it begins.... Grille, rear badge and wheel centres all fitted. The little Lancia shields for the rear quarters are on their way from Italy. Just the interior stuff to source now.

And on Tuesday she goes in for a service, new belts and water pump. :)

As I was passing Loch Lomond, it seemed rude not to stop for a Kodak moment...

  6. Beautiful colour!

Well done on the find and enjoy your new Italian girlfriend. She looks super clean and well cared for.

    Enjoy!

Thanks, it's generally very good. It stood for 5 months after the previous owner died, and I've had to do some fairly major detailing work to get rid of the tar and algae, but it has come up very well.

It's in at the garage next week for a timing belt, water pump and service. So it should be good to go for a long time.

  7. Tjb, nice buy!

please post some pics when you get the Lancia conversion completed.

I have the same colour Delta Inc trim in a petrol SR. It's a pearlescent bronze that never comes out on the photos. My neighbours love it.

There was a Lancia specialist down near Evesham that I think can source the Lancia headrests, I can dig out the contact details if you're interested?

Thanks, yes, please PM me the details.

  8. When I bought my Delta it replaced an MG ZT, I'd say the engine was way better but ride, handling and comfort much better on the MG. Reliability of Delta was streets ahead though, the MG was a bit of a nightmare, still one of my favourite cars though.

Which ZT did you have? I've had 3 75s and a ZT-T and every flavour of engine from 1.8 K Series through 2.0 diesel to my current 2.5 KV6. It's a bit of a learning curve for me getting used to the power delivery on the 1.6 Multijet as it's a few years since I've run a diesel.

  9. Well done TJB - that Bronze (Savannah?) colour is quite scarce. Enjoy the drive and stick along here for the journey....... BTW Whereabouts in Bonnie are you?

We're on the Rosneath Peninsula in Argyll. I thought the colour was Nadir Pearl, but I can't find the paint code to confirm.

I think you'll be hearing from me a lot :) I've already started sourcing Lancia bits for it. My first foray in to Italian car ownership having been mostly a GM and Rover man. I still have a Rover 75 in the garage. The Delta has impressed in the ride quality department. I'd say its not far short of the 75, even on our lumpy rural roads.

  10. First question of my Delta ownership.

As with most moderns, there's no spare wheel. I live in rural West Scotland, so a spare is pretty useful.

I have a set of 17" wheels from my old Astra SRi which are 5x110 from memory. Would these work as spares / winter tyre wheels?

  11. After missing out on 3 Deltas in Central Scotland, I finally bagged this one on Monday.

1.6 Multijet SR. Only 49000 miles and service history. A pre-reg then one owner. Part of a deceased estate. It's the first time I can say that the sales photos didn't do the car justice. It really is immaculate. Only slight worry is that there's uncertainty over whether the timing belt has been done, but I negotiated accordingly. Other than that it drives superbly. I don't think the back seat has ever been used.
