  1. Tried using some double-sided tape for my headrests but they came off the next day. Anyone suggest anything else to use?

Mind did that, but it took a few weeks. put some fresh tape on them and cleaned the area of the head rest with leather prep - the stuff you use on shoes before colouring them - before re-applying, and so far they've stayed stuck.

You need to use carpet fixing tape - ordinary double sided doesn't work at all.

  2. That's a great looking car Andrew, I've just come back to a Delta after losing my first one in France in 2017. I notice yours has the 2.0 twin tailpipe exhaust, I wanted that for my 1.6 too! Enjoy the car it's a great drive! My Lancia grille has arrived from Italy, just need a dry day to fit it!

    Ciao

Actually, the twin tail pipe is something I'd like for mine too. My back box is fine right now but looks a bit crusty.

  3. Hi, hopefully this car is going to be mine!  The low mileage is due to it being a Guernsey car, so low miles but perhaps a bit more clutch abuse.  I've put a deposit on it, just waiting now for the dealer to get a UK registration & MOT for it.

I would say it hasn't seen many harsh winters and salty roads etc., however I suppose it has lived in a coastal environment as Guernsey is so small you can't really get away from the sea.  I couldn't find any corrosion though, there's a tiny mark on the n/s/r bumper up where it meets the wing and signs of it being stood about (leaves & cobwebs around the under bonnet scuttle area etc) but other than that the exterior is lovely, the wheels & interior are pretty much immaculate.

As a long time Lancia fan & owner of an original Delta this one will be getting the re-badge treatment to remove the C-word!

Enjoy the car, it looks an absolute belter. I'm not keen on white cars, but the Delta just seems to suit it, especially with the black roof.

  4. I just had this pop up in my AutoTrader alerts. It's actually an SR, not an S. OK, it's probably top money but it's a stunning car and ultra low miles. Too good not to share:

I think if I was still searching, I'd consider breaking the bank and travelling south for it.

  5. Cheers Neil! Yeah I'm sorry too, and will do fella. (y)

It definitely goes down as one of those iconic cars that gets under your skin! Kind of unexpected too, but none the less up there with some of the best Alfas I've owned.

Yes considering I didn't even get round to advertising the car apart from this thread, I had 5 people send me messages. Although I dare say one or two were messers that wanted something for nothing... but kind of par for the course these days.

Anyway the guy who's bought the car has wanted one for about two years, so think he deserves to enjoy it after trying to buy for so long!

Good news that it's found a decent home. I missed out on about 5 in the 4 months or so I was looking, so 2 years really is dedication to the cause.

I know what you mean about the car getting under your skin, I've found the same thing. Not since my long-term affair with the Rover 75 / MG ZT (15 years and counting), has a car drawn me in as much.

  6. Hi and welcome.

First thing to check: does the airbag light come on with the ignition and then go out? This would indicate that the car has done it's checks and is happy that the airbags are OK. A missing or deployed air bag would result in the light staying on.

If there is no airbag light when you turn on the ignition, then it could be that someone has removed or blacked out the bulb to disguise a fault. This is now part of the MOT test and would result in a fail.

I don't have specific experience of the Ypsilon, but I've spent a fair amount of time chasing airbag issues round other cars, and it can be a bit of a game. Hope you get it sorted out.

  7. My apologies for spooking you TJB, I am speaking from experience as I had a K&N in one of my Marea JTDs and it was never serviced (ie as factory supplied) and it was responsible for burning out 2 hotwire MAFs over 40k miles before I switched back to the standard filter for the remaining 120k I did in that car on the 3rd MAF

Ah, OK. As I said, the Google search I did on the issue did pick it up, but seemed to attribute the problem to Cleaned, then over-oiled filters in all cases. Obviously that's not been your experience. I did notice that this filter seemed less "oily" than previous ones I've had. Others have left traces of oil on the cellophane when unwrapped but this one didn't.

  8. Looks great fella! Top work!

I keep looking at the headrests and the engine cover, but haven't got around to either yet.

Thanks. I think if the "right" bits turn up at the right money, I'll probably swap them, but I'm happy with it as it is.

    All good work!

Bar the K&N . . Is it oiled or dry?

In my experience the oiled ones burn out the hot wire airflow meters

Andrewgrale, you did spook me a bit re. the K&N. I've used the before in my cars when I did an awful lot more miles than I do now (Accord VTEC Coupe, Rover Tomcat, MG ZT, Celica) and never had an issue. I only fitted one because of the god-awful rigmarole changing them seems to be on the Delta, so a fit and forget for 4 to 5 years seemed a good idea. I did a bit of digging and the problem seems to arise when users clean, then over-oil them. K&N recommend cleaning every 50k, which on my current annual mileage is about 5 years away. The car will also be over 100k by then, so I think I'll take the risk :)

  9. All good work!

Bar the K&N . . Is it oiled or dry?

In my experience the oiled ones burn out the hot wire airflow meters

Thanks.Good question re. the filter, I honestly don't know. It was the correct one for the car from K&N direct. Having used them in the past, this one didn't feel oily.

Good work TJB - The headrests have not bothered me too much as there is no Chrysler wording and no-one seems to know what that 'wing' is anyway. I have some Lancia patches I still have not got around to stick on. What did you attach the MOMO ones with?

Thanks, I used double sided carpet fixing tape, it sticks well to the back of the iron-on patch and, if briefly warmed up first with a hot air gun, sticks well to the head rest.

  10. Think I'm done with the re-badging now.

I wanted to cover the "wings" on the head rests, but most of the Lancia patches I found were too small, so I found these Momo ones that are a perfect size.

I kept the same theme going for the kick plates:

...matching one of my favourite wrist watches :) :

I also knocked something up for the engine cover with carbon fibre wrap and a wheel centre badge, may have to re-think this later, but it does for now:

So, other than the MFD logo, I think I'm about done.

In other news, I've replaced the air filter with a K&N item. At least I won't have to do that job again for a while. Replaced the pollen filter as well, what a pig of a job that is.

  11. Where did you get the C-Pillar logos and how easy was it to replace? Mine have faded and look gross :(

Apologies for not replying sooner, here is the eBay link:

Mine was a Chrysler delta, so no C Pillar logos originally. They are just stuck on, so warm them up with a hot air gun or hair dryer and use a piece of fine nylon string to pull behing them and lift them off. then clean any residue off with some Panel Wipe or nail varnish remover.

  12. I would try and find the Fiat Bravo or Alfa Giulieta mudflaps, although many manufacturers don't do custom fit mudflaps anymore, due to their interfering with drag co-efficiency and subsequent fuel consumption and higher emissions and consequent carbon dioxide emissions and charges

Really? I've just fitted 2 factory sets to brand new Audis. Saying that, they are more like little stone guards for the sill ends and rear bumper than full-on mud flaps. Bravo is a good thought I may try that.

  13. Living in rural Scotland, one thing I always fit to my cars is a set of mudflaps. I find they really help keep down the road rash and tar spots; tar is a real pain up here with all the cheap road repairs and surface dressing.

I can't seem to find a factory set of tailored mudflaps for the Delta, does anyone know if they did them, or of a suitable semi-tailored alternative?

  14. Welcome, I've become a Delta owner in the last 6 weeks or so. Enjoy the car, I'm loving mine. I have a 2012 1.6 SR in Perla Sirena - a sort of pearlescent beige. I'm in the process of making mine back in to a Lancia.

As far as meets go, that's a good question. Although I'm probably as far away from you as it's possible to get as I'm in West Scotland

  15. Yeah that's all normal Tim. Doesn't it make a massive difference having a Lancia badge in front of you!

I stopped after all exterior badges, sill plates and airbag. I meant to do the engine cover and headrests but never got round to it. I even tried to find the setting in Examiner to change the the start up file to Lancia on the info display. But for some reason couldn't find it.

I'd like to do the kick plates. Mine have carbon fibre effect vinyl wrap over them at the moment. I did see a nice set on Amazon, but they're out of stock. Headrests I'd do if a set turned up at the right price. I had a right result with the air bag, it was literally brand new, still in a sealed FCA box. £120 delivered.

  16. That's the airbag swapped over. Didn't take very long at all. The new one from Italy had the right connectors, so it's all good.

I did have a slightly worrying moment after I re-connected the battery and started the car; all sorts of warnings flashed up on the MFD. However after I'd driven a few feet and turned the steering wheel they all went away. I've stopped and re-started the car since and it hasn't done it again. I guess it was re-learning stuff after the battery disconnect
