  1. Okay just an update my QuickFix lasted up until a couple of weeks ago.. Which isn’t too bad Blew very noisy and fumes in the cab for my wife when visiting her mother… Oh dear. The AA guy pointed out to my wife that someone had bodged it up... lol it blew again soon as she started home. My bodge lasted 18/12. Longer than his. however, when home very friendly guy at my local indy, completed the job properly and blanked off the end of the EGR manifold with an improvised cap. Also fashioned one for the other end presumably where the MAF sensor is. so it still works, it is quieter and the big thing… THERE IS NO FAULT CODE !!! Seriously no warning lights, we were prepared to go into the dashboard and obscure them but it wasn’t needed - it just didn’t happen it’s actually not clever enough to throw them up!! just for everyone who’s wondered. Egr blank works fine - 2007 grand voyager 2.8 crd.
  2. Hi, I’m also interested in this one – there’s lots of those flexi pipes on eBay but there seems to be different diameters 22 mm up to 35mm. It specifies O/D which I think is outer diameter. Anyone any idea which diameter? ( It’s cold and wet out there and a very narrow squeeze… ) Thanks
  3. Quick question, mine is on all time (whenever the heater is on) and the heater runs on for a minute or so after the engine has been switched off. Is this a problem with the thermostat which could be fixed by the excellent in-line thermostat modification by Leedsman ? (Actually disconnected the aux heater A couple of months ago thinking it may have been why the battery was going flat… But that’s another story... With it disconnected, the light still comes on but the car takes an age to start blowing hot)
  4. Okay – just for anyone foolish enough to try this themselves - it’s not a good idea… The Jubilee clip was actually the proper part it has a groove on the inside of it to hold the mild steel EGR pipe onto the exhaust manifold, and the steel EGR pipe and is shaped and crimped over the collar of the EGR manifold so not easily detachable and re-attachable. My leak of gases is from cracks in the steel pipe where is shaped the collar. Changing the pipe looks possible, but too big a job for me so a quick fix and job for the garage!
  5. Hi guys – 2007 GV 2.8 CRD. I have a small gases leak from the rear of the engine. Limited inspection shows it to be in the area of the EGR pipe clip, which has apparently failed and been 'fixed' by applying a Jubilee clip over it. As far as I can see both sides of the pipe are fine, it’s just a failed fix of the joint. The proper clip seems to be a relatively common part used on a lot of other engines. I had 'blanking the EGR' on my list of things to consider but had thought it too complicated -( than on my defender) - in that the blanking plates don’t completely blank/delete anyway because they still need a trickle of gases to stop getting a fault code or worse the management light, and of course access. Question: How about when I’m replacing the pipe clip, sandwiching a correctly sized ball of compressed exhaust aluminium tape in the joint? Maybe drilling a small hole through the middle of it just like the blanking plates available? Would seem easier than removing/Loosening the manifold to slide the plate in there? Thoughts/warnings really appreciated! Many thanks
