  1. Indeed it is lol The only non-Italian I have ever owned, was a Porsche 911 :-D And I sold that after a few weeks Italian cars have a way of getting under your skin
  2. @ Mike . Regarding the "good going" I am a former Fiat top technician (3 times) A placed finalist in the world championships in Turin (7th, 5th and 3rd overall) If I couldn't make sense of a Fiat group car, id be very disappointed in myself ;-D
  3. I thought that the auxiliary belt stretcher bearing was a bit iffy on my wife's Delta, I hadn't gotten 1, but will keep an eye on it, both it and the timing belt tensioner are plastic! Talk about planned obsolescence . . I have a 1991 Tipo diesel in the corner of my yard, that has 420,000 miles on it, including 6 years rallying with me, my wife learning to drive in it, I have owned it since it was 6 months old and no one else has ever worked on it . . I have never changed the timing belt tensioner or guide bearings and at last change, were still quiet and tight!
  4. Mike, the liner is child's play to remove, jack up, axle stand under the car, remove the right-hand front wheel, 9 pozi-drive screws and off it falls !!!
  5. Hi all, last night I was doing the timing belt on my wife's Delta and had cause to remove the right-hand front wing liner and was amazed at the build up of muck and crap in the area where the liner locates with the sill moulding, for anyone intending to keep their Delta for a while, it would be well worth your while to remove the wing liners and have a look behind them :-D
  6. Hi all, I was driving my wife's Delta over the last few days and the left-hand front DRL has developed a fault. It stops working after about 10 minutes, bringing on the orange alert light and the "ceck left-hand front sidelight" In true Italian style, when the car is switched off and back on, it works again for the 10 minutes! I had a quick look at the various connections and can't see anything awry. Has anyone come across this problem before??
  7. Job done last night, took around 4 hours and included a new auxiliary belt, an oil and filter change and while the wing liner was off, I located and cured an annoying rattle, which turned out to be the air filter box mounting, which was missing a rubber and was metal to plastic!
  8. The 1st is actually 1 of 2 ultrasonic volume sensors for the factory fitted alarm There is a transmitter and a receiver The 2nd, I will bow to Penguin on that I was under the impression that it was simply a cover in the centre of the dash As the receiver for the remote used to be in the body computer ???
  9. A job that I have pencilled in, in the near future, for my wife's Delta . . As soon as I can get the car off of her I bought the complete Continental kit, with tensioners and water pump, recently, for £75 on flEabay
  10. Welcome aboard Jensen The slots you mention are for the storage of autostrada toll swipe cards, so they are in easy reach when you reach the barriers! My wife uses hers for 2 Euro coins for our toll barriers here in Ireland
  11. I am glad I'm not losing it! (Not sure if I had it in the 1st place) ))
  12. Neil, I think it is the body side weatherstrip that Mike is looking for ???? If his arse managed to get up to the window, I'd be shocked ! Unless he's after making a cabriolet of his Delta !!
  13. Mike, it is possible that it's the same as the 2007 on, Fiat Bravo ???
  14. If you have access to the multiecuscan software, you can re-teach the flaps and the system where the end of travel are again
  15. I just re read your post and you mentioned blocked injectors, well as MikeyRules said, it must be poop in the petrol There's no fuel filter fitted to these cars, simply a strainer in the fuel tank, pre pump And 4 little strainers fitted in the top of each injector
  16. Snake oil . . I say (probably more Victor Meldrew than someone more settled) The best thing for a city bound Italian car is the old 'Italian tune up' Find a nice quiet twisty road and drive the guts out of it in 3rd gear for the spin . . Works every time ! Plus you get a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling
  17. Under the floor, there are several tabs which should be open to drain any moisture trapped under the carpet It's good practice to have these tabs opened up Also check your heater settings and make sure that you're not running the system with the recycle air activated Clean your windows with isopropyl alcohol, to remove any build up of grease and window polish 1 more thing (2 actually) Find the drains for the air intake into the car and make sure that the drains aren't blocked with leaves and debris Change out the heater intake (pollen) filter
  18. PF 12 MHY should be enough to use as a template reg number
  19. I am sorry for your trouble! (An Irish wish of condolence)
  20. There was a time when I could recognise every (or almost) car make and model on the road, with 1 glance, sadly cars individuality has been distilled out to be replaced by some anodyne eurobox looking yokes! It's the thing I admire about the Delta, nothing on the road quite looks the same
  21. Rubber degrades over time, heat and cold accelerate this degradation Your timing belt is made of rubber and your engine heats up and cools down If you have a local (pet) mechanic or a willing Fiat main dealer, I would certainly consider a belt change, simply on time alone, if your car is running with the pink coolant it is also due a change A friend of mine bought a low (ish) milage Delta integrale and was shocked to have to change the original 22 years old timing belt!!!!
  22. Mike was simply pointing out a maxim that a friend of his uses for tyre pressuresThat his friend is Canadian and drives American cars, was incidental! And I think Mike got confused with the model he was checking tyre pressure for, it doesn't matter, the information is still relevant
  23. Quick update, in true IT style, turning the car off and restarting after 5 minutes seems to have rebooted it and all is well again !!!
  24. Hi lads, just a quick question regarding my wifes Delta 2012, 1.4 multiair SE She rang me to say that the dash has stopped working, speedo and all clocks and that the warning lights are lit up like a Christmas tree Everything else works, but there's no indication on the dashboard (lights, indicators etc) Any ideas ??????
