  1. Thanks for that, it is my preferred option at the moment Keith
  2. Thanks for that info. I will have a think about whether I want to take it apart and play catch with the springs..... Keith
  3. Hi guys. Several switches on my 2006 GV have lamps out on several switches. Rear wiper etc and also the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Can these lamps be replaced or do you need to replace the entire switch module? If they can be replaced, can some kind soul explain how to do it please? Thanks in advance Keith
  4. Hi all. I have tried to get a disc into the 6 changer on my new to me GV and it is not a happening thing. I have had a quick look and found that there is a piece of metal across the opening of the insertion slot. It does not move and so prevents cds being inserted. I guess the fix is to replace the entire unit? Does anyone have one that I can buy? Also when I fit a replacement one will it need programming into the car? TIA Keith
  5. Thanks guys, I hope that they have identified the correct part and can sort this out now.... I will let you know Keith
  6. Hi all. When I start my GV 2.8 CRD Ltd, it stinks of diesel fumes inside the cabin. My local garage have had a quick look and fount the exhaust from the Webasto auxiliary heater is faulty. Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement please? Many thanks Keith
  7. Thanks for the above answers. I didn't find the thread but never mind. I have bought a new actuator and now I wonder how to remove the trim from the door to allow me access? Anyone done this please? Keith
  8. Thanks guys. My wife has a Mercedes E320 and that doesn't do it, I just sold my Jeep Grand with the 3 litre V6 Mercedes engine and that didn't do it either, so something new to me. Not a problem now I know it is normal..... Thanks again all. Keith
  9. Hi all, still new to this. When I start my 2.8 CRD GV if I put my foot to the floor the rev counter goes up to 2500 RPM and stays there. Should it go higher than that? Keith
  10. Thanks guys, I will try another look on here.... Keith
  11. Hi all. I have today bought myself a 2006 (56) Grand Voyager 2.8 Ltd XS CRD in silver. I am thrilled with the car however after driving it home I locked it and found that the drivers side (offside) rear sliding door did not lock. It locks manually but not on the remote. I am suspecting the actuator has failed, and would appreciate some pointers. TIA Keith
  12. How did you get on ametcalfe? Any news? Keith
  13. I am also looking to buy a Grand Voyager Ltd with Stow n Go. I want a 55 reg on without starship miles although good service history is more important than actual miles in my opinion, not bothered if diesel or LPG (actually I would prefer an LPG I think). I am looking to spend under £3500 in total and have considered a couple that needed work however it seems that the timing belt replacement times are impossible to work out (I have been told 60K miles and also 100K miles???) and finding one in my price range and way above, with written proof that it has been replaced is like finding hens teeth, noone seems to bother and I just know that if I bought one of these the belt would snap on the drive home..... It is easy to spend money on a dog but I have happily owned my present car (Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 V6 diesel (Mercedes lump)) for 6 1/2 years and been totally happy with it and only suffered one fault, which was a known fault and easily rectified (if not so cheaply...) so I am being very careful looking for the replacement vehicle. Not easy is it? Good luck with your search Ohwell Keith
  14. Hi QinteQ. Thanks for that advise, I have had so many different answers to the timing belt change interval that my head spins.... Some other great info there, thanks. Keith
  15. Thanks, yes it is only LTD that I am looking for, I want most of the toys offered, otherwise I would buy a Transit..... The cam belt is something that I am aware of and by the quotes I have so far it will cost between £400 and £550 to get one replaced (with and without a water pump, personally I would have the pump replaced at the same time). So as I am not looking to spend a lot of money on the car that size of repair bill is out of the question for me.I don't do so many miles so I figure a newly replaced cam belt would last me for years... Thanks again, I will study the MOT, look for odd lights and listen to the engine, although the one I have looked at seemed very rattly compared to the 3.0 V6 Mercedes diesel engine in my Jeep. Keith
  16. Hi all. I am thinking of buying a GV with the 2.8 ltr diesel engine engine. It is the 1st 4 pot engine that I have owned in nearly 20 years have had 2 3.3 ltr V6 petrol GV's in the past. How good are these engines? Any weak spots? I am considering a 122k mile 2006 version and would like to know if this will be any good and anything I need to look for please. Kind regards Keith
  17. Thanks for the welcome. I will bear in mind the points that you have made. I am going to ask on another page to see if I get more responses Keith
  18. Morning all. I have just joined this forum as I am considering buying a Grand Voyager, somewhere around an 05 - 07 year. I am a sixty year old engineer, ex RN and not retired yet but working on it I currently own a 55 reg Jeep Grand Cherokee, which I have owned for over 6 years and I love it. Our lifestyle has changed and we now need a large vehicle but I don't want to get a van. I have owned 2 previous models of GV, the first was a 99 V6 petrol and the second an 02 petrol. I liked them both which is why I am seriosly considering buying another one to replace my Jeep. This time I am considering getting the diesel engined version, a 2.8 four pot (first four pot that I will have owned since 1998...) but I know nothing about them. I have not really driven one and I would like some advice please. What are the weaknesses that I need to be aware of and look out for? Thanks in advance for any help. Keith
