Information Display Not Working And Manual Gear Seletor Issue

Hi all, new to forum , just purchased a 2001 Diesel Manual Grand Voyager having owned a couple some years ago.

 

Couple of issues that I need some advice on. Firstly the information display ie where the indicators show and main beam warning is not working, is this a common or big problem?

 

Also when driving yesterday I changed into second, maybe a bit too fiercly and lost the connection between the gearlever and the gearbox whereby the car was stuck in second gear with the clutch working fine. The gearlever was just moving about not being able to get any gears until I wiggled it a bit and got the linkage back. No problems since. Again is this a common issue

i dont know about vg but i had a range rover with this problem it was wear and tare on end off gear stick  

i put a bit of weld on end and shaped it up  you mite find one in local scrapy 

 

as for your lights have you tried the plug on the back ?
