Question

Hi all. I have a torque converter that needs replacing but can only find refurbed ones. Found a couple of full auto boxes and converters for cheaper. If I fitted a complete box would it need reprogramming to my ECU?

thanks.

This isn't an answer I'm afraid but a request to identify your vehicle. model and year, it will help members answer the question more accurately.

I did a quick search in the manuals for automatic transmission removal & found this for the 40/41TE but as far as I am aware the quick learn doesn't require the DRBiii just run the car for a couple of miles (imcluding up & down hills (difficult if you live in Lincolnshire!

NOTE: If the Transmission Control Module or Torque Converter has been replaced,
or if the Transmission has been repaired or replaced, it is necessary to perform the
DRBIIIt Quick Learn Procedure and reset the (Pinion Factor(.

I would recommend to take torque converter off and send it for refurbishment. Cost around 250 Pounds plus shipping. I will have same job to do very soon. The gearboxes in e-bay with included torque converters with pretty high probability may not be in condition you expect.
