Dvd Remote?

Hi All,

 

I've got an 06 GVL but without a DVD remote for the single DVD screen at the back. I have sound working happily from the speakers with a DVD in place, but nothing on screen. I understand that this is because Chrysler secided that we must have a remote to make this turn on.

 

Anyone know where to get a cheap replacement? Ive seen some genuine ones on ebay for 75quid, but this seems excessive for what it is.

I have a 54 plate with single dvd and no remote and my screen works OK. Obviously controls are limited to play stop and select using the dvd drive controls, but works OK. Bit fussy with dvd though, doesn't seem to like newer ones. I'll let you know which model dvd system I have later. I need to get some infra red headphones for mine but there cheap enough on amazon. And I agree the remotes are a horrendous price but not really much dearer than a genuine remote for any other dvd, tv etc.

Yep unfortunately it seems that the vast majority need the remote to turn the dvd screen on, and luminova11 is definitely an exception.

Could you tell us which button you use to bring the screen on?

 

Mine needs the headphone button pressing on the remote, every time, even if the dvd is playing and I start the car - screen goes off - press button to get it back on. Mine is the multi dvd / cd type, with sat nav screen.

 

Sadly can't help with any cheap options, but they come up on ebay.

Thanks for the replies. I'm toying with the idea of changing the stereo unit because I want bluetooth and the parrot system in the car won't see my phone as tech has moved on. I'm thinking I might replace it all in one go and then I know it will work. Finding something compatible with the amp seems to be a little challenging though.

Ah yes changing the stereo unit is also jolly blooming challenging. I think there's been a couple of threads discussing it previously, not at all an easy job.

 

I've seen head units claiming to be compatible but not come across anyone who can verify that for fact!

I can reply to my own question now for anyone asking the same in future. I bought an ebay special that claims to replace the VES remote and it works! Described as Remote Control For Chrysler Grand Voage 300C Video DVD Headphones VES System, we're up and working again!
