Chrysler Crossfire - Electrical Issues Help?

Hi everyone,

New to the forum and wondered if anyone could help?

I've recently purchased a 2004 Crossfire however over the last few weeks it's developed an electrical fault weather the car is on or off the dash lights stay on! (the lights are switch off just to confirm lol). The lights that illuminate the radio/ fan controls etc. in the centre all go off and on but the dash lights always stay on. I've also notice when the car is switched on and you turn on the fan it goes slow and fast by itself while the dash lights fade and brighten almost like a power surge!?! The fan also goes slow/ fast when I switch on the rear window demist!

I've had one mobile auto-electrician look at it however I don't think he really knew what to look for! He did say it could be the Body Control Unit that's faulty.

My questions are:

1. would the BDU create these issues?

2. does anyone know if I replace the BCU myself do I need to get it reprogrammed or is it a straight swap?

3. if I do need to get it reprogrammed can anyone suggest a good auto-electrician in the Watford area who could confirm the problem and fix it?

I've found it very hard to find anyone that specialises in Chrysler electrics so any help would be appreciated.

If I find a solution I'll post the outcome for future Crossfire owners :)

Thanks,

Graham
