Gv Been Written Off.

Well, the results are in, the GV is a writeoff. Lady pulled out from the side of the road and ran her car from the side door around the handle, along the front door and just caught the wing too.
Damage is a tiny dent on sliding door, a raised line on the drivers door and a small scratch, and 2 small scratches on the front wing. 
The plastics also have a slight scuff.
All hardly noticeable, and invisible in the picture, but just over £3k at the bodyshop.

Well whatever you do, don't let them take it away, discuss it before and hopefully settle on them paying you a few quid for you to keep it!

 

It was admittedly a few years ago, but the insurance wanted to take our Impreza to "secure" storage, from off the back of my drive which is behind a garage door at the front of the car port.........

 

To then also request the service history (but your writing it off????) from us.

So anyway we ended up keeping it, took the dosh, and I repaired it.

It's at the repair place just now, was informed late Friday it's getting written off, I'll speak to them Monday.
Even in the flesh it's hard to see much wrong with it. 
I've used some free online valuations and it's around £2800-£3800 worth from a garage (replacement cost). 
We'll see how it plays out. It's the other partys insurance, not our own that's dealing with everything.

Oh bugger, but unless you want to of course don't let it go, they'll obviously sell it on through trade as a cat D for bugger all money and then traders made a butty on it.

 

Right now of course it's still your car. But if you're fed up of all their little foibles, well could be a good time to "sell" it to them :-)

 

One other reason I can't trust them is many years ago, about 15, I had enough money to buy a brand new motorcycle, which then due to an oil spillage I fell off after 2 month.

When I went to meet the insurance assessor it had been damaged significantly more than when I slid it along then road. Strap marks on the petrol tank, busted fairing and screen, and they had "lost" a 700mm long section of the bottom fairing, in bright red.......... After that I didn't really want it back, I was gutted, not had a new one since. Well not a road bike anyway.

I was thinking about selling it to be honest, as in before the accident, simply because I don't like towing with the Voyagers autobox. Towing, it's constantly kicking down on flat or hill, 2500-3000 revs and 15-18mpg. I love everything else about these cars. It's had the timing belt done 2 years ago, I got the autobox serviced, handbrake all replaced at last mot. 
 

All the small issues were resolved quickly on this one, thermostat mod, battery button mod, power drain via the stereo. 

There's a guy I know that loves these, think the family has 2 or 3, and the last time I spoke to him, he was looking for another one. If I can keep it for a good price, I'll see if he's interested. Keeping it would also mean I wont have to rush into a replacement. 

 

Fingers crossed, I've a hire car for a week after the actual insurer tells us it's written off, so that'll let me hang off if their initial offer's too low.

Exact same Gordy, Same car, same caravan lol. 
I mentioned on another thread that I've applied for a job in Dumfries. It's 62 miles away, so need something a bit more fuel efficient, but also thinking of siting the caravan down there (Brandedleys) so I'm not travelling every day.

Well there's plenty on Fleebay, even garages selling them for under £2k, 06 to 07 models, but down south. Guy I know here near Ae Village (turn off at Parkgate) buys and sells Peugeot 307's HDI'S including 307sw's. Does all the jobs needing done that you can think off. Nice cars but not big enough for us. I'm using a Panda multijet at mo as my Voyager needs work for MOT. It's on 58mpg, little cramped but goes like stink...

Good Idea about the caravan as I worked away for 10 years as far as Ashford Kent, Morecambe, Manchester, etc., staying in a Motorhome then a caravan and coming home at weekends.

Unfortunately, that'[s me a mondeo guy now. 
Swapping the wifes nissan note for a mondeo Ghia x saloon, and planning to buy a Mondeo Titanium x estate to replace the GV. 

I messaged my GV buddy to try and sell my injector puller, 2 x handbrake cables and a set of alloys, but he's bought a 2008 now.
