  1. Hi Paul,

We're going to need a little more information to help you out on this one.

When you say the car will not start, does that mean it starts eventually? Does it just keep turning over, and is it turning over quickly enough? As first to eliminate would be the battery. Charge the battery right up and see if it helps first.

If not, then it might be the glow-plugs, have you ever had them replaced? They help warm the diesel up on a cold morning (How cold are we talking?) so the car starts better.

If yours does start eventually and has a bunch of grey smoke when it starts I'd say it's probably glow plugs not working right (Changing them isn't too bad, I did a video on it if it's useful to you to try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vtGGp4Jqp8 ).

Other things, mine is a 2005 and does occasionally have a tough start, on a cold morning it'll start then cut out almost immediately. I'm suspecting either injectors or leaking return valve but not 100% sure on this one yet. Second crank and it's fine.

Thanks for video. Mine is a 2001 are the glow plugs in same locations and how long did it take you

  2. I replied to this but its went missing. Your smoke is prob due to dribbling injectors. Check inside boost hoses and intercooler for turbo oil leak as your mech says.

only prob you might have is sheared studs so soak them in releasal before job.

Sorry for what might be a stupid question but what or where are the studs

  3. My mechanic has cleaned egr but the car is still smoking and he said turbo is leaking and something about a leak. He reckons turbo needs replaced. Now the car accelerates fine and stuff. Does this sound right

Is replacing the turbo easy and can I do it myself? How many hours woukd a mechanic need or how much wouldnit cost. He says he is too busy to do it now? I m thinking of getting second hand one. Really at my wits end

  4. Hi all I phoned chrysler about my 2006 2.8 crd voyager and the advised me that there was an outstanding recall on it. the recall is the airbag sensors so it's going into platts garage in Stoke tomorrow morning to be done.

If anyone isn't sure about there cars just phone a dealer and asked them to check.

    That's all I did

Do i just give my vin or what?

  5. Hi, no... you can get a brand new uncut/unprogrammed transponder key off ebay, I paid around £12 I think.  You then need to get it cut to match your original. If you have the manufacturer code, the key supplier can cut it for you. If not just take it to a local key cutter along with your original.

You then need to get the transponder programmed, in Chrysler USA cars, there's a procedure that you can follow to program it yourself, but you need at least two already programmed keys. This didn't work for me. But you can just take the newly cut one to any car locksmith and they'll program it for you as long as you have at least one original.

    Mat

    I get you now. Thanks

  6. I bought a blank transponder key off ebay, there's a couple of different types but they look different so easy to get the right one. I then took it to my local cobbler who cut it to my original key for £2

It then worked mechanically in my doors & ignition. I then tried to program it using the official method (only works if you have two original keys) and then found out that UK spec chryslers don't support the key programming option,

I then called my local auto lock people and they said they could program it for £25, but before I got round to getting it done I sold the car.

So basically you can get the key off ebay, I even think they will cut it if you supply the original code, but then you need to get it programmed correctly.

Unless i misunderstand you, so you mean i can get a second hand key off ebay and get it programmed. Do the blank keys on ebay have a transponder in them?

  7. My 2002 has always been the same as that, had it just under 4 years.

Quite useful to leave the radio on for the kids when filling up actually.

Try an experiment, have it in neutral not park, switch it off, and try taking the key out then - mine won't bizarely. The key won't even turn to the actual off position!

Mine is a manual. I managed to remove the key while engine was running. Not good at all  :(

  8. So pissed, lost a set of keys yesterday for the car.(which I've never done before) So today phone chysler to get a price for a new set. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, new key and 5 button remote £121.00 key cut £7 1/2 hour labour to program remote, key immobiliser and to delete the old key and remote. £66. What do you think??

Rather reasonable. Did they tell you how much to get a spare key (i mean actual key blade thingy)

  9. Oh no not the Voodoo car from hell. If I had 20 scanners and 20 time served master mechanics each with 50 years experience available for a month we would never get info from that car. I'd stand more chance with a Whiccan doll, a bucket of sharp pins, some eye of newt, a devils mark and two spare agents of the devil and some Voodoo stones. Yes I'll meet you somewhere on the 19 or the [GNR] 1. The Quayside is about 50 miles north of me mate.

QinteQ there is a fella near me who has a ICarsoft 980. Any idea if this would do a decent job reading the codes? He has offered to it free but i dont want waste his time if it wont work

  10. My mate lives just north north of London on the Cambridge corridor, I live in the Boro, you are welcome to (2) a free read and code clears where they exist. Most code readers won't read Chrysler you need at least a good scanner. There's no such thing as a good scanner costing less than a £housand or £500 on a 'grey'. Long shot is - reset the computers by pulling the POS terminal for 16 minutes. Best of luck. [Caveat Emptor on any 2004 radio code issue]

QinteQ where exactly are you mate? I am planning a night out in Newcastle in next 2- 3 months and might take you up on your offer sir
