Voyager v reg 2.5td.cant line up the selector shaft and housing with the gearbox.please help.thanks

Have voyager v reg 2000 model 2.5td.the pin on the end of the selector shaft to cable was worn,so removed the selector shaft housing to make it easier to punch out worn roll pin.all done but now cant work out where the selector lines up in the gearbox.tried many different ways.please help.thanks
