  1. Good evening all,

Suddenly yesterday the car started locking itself whilst in motion!

Keys in, engine running and it locked all the doors.  I could unlock them with the internal switch on the door but then they locked again.

The fob has never worked since I bought this car (March this year) and it is a separate fob to the key so I have always had to unlock the driver door with the key and rest then with the internal switch.  When locking I have to use the switch and then close the driver door.

Any ideas as to what is causing the doors to lock on their own before I have to go to my garage for it to be looked at?

Also, when unlocking the door, and this only started yesterday, the internal switch will not open the other door until the key is in and the ignition is on.

The fob is sending out a signal, tested a while at the garage, but is not operating the central locking.  For some reason we (myself and the garage) cannot get it to work.

    Many thanks

  2. I was losing coolant with no obvious leakage.

However, one afternoon, after parking up I noticed a big pool of liquid under the car, checked the coolant and it was empty.  RAC duly called and the coolant pipe under the car had corroded.  The leakage was slow and steady until the pipe went altogether.  Duly fixed at my local garage.  May be worth you looking underneath to see if there is corrosion in a pipe.

  3. Hi,

    thanks for the reply.

I assume it worked as when I collected it from the dealer he said it just needed a battery, which I replaced.

My garage has a receiver which picks up the signal and it didn't when first tried, despite the new battery.  They opened up the fob and discovered the loose connection which they fixed and tested  The fob works, i.e. it is giving out a signal as picked up by the receiver upon testing, but it is not operating the locks on the car or opening the sliding doors or boot.

The fob is separate to the key so not an all in one unit, if that makes a difference.

    Kind regards.

  4. Good afternoon,

I have a Grand Voyager 2.8CRD Ltd but the key fob doesn't work.

I put in a new battery but still didn't work and my local garage discovered a loose connection, which they fixed.  However, the fob still doesn't operate the central locking.

The electrician at the garage did try a couple of methods, but short of plugging into the CPU, which he did not do to save money, nothing worked.

I have looked myself but the methods I have found covers the 6 button fob, i.e. the US one with the panic button.

Does anyone know how I can get the fob to operate as it should without having to go back to the garage?

I have already tried a method whereby the key is put it, switched to "on" and the lock button pressed, repeated three times, but this didn't work.

    Many thanks

  5. Good evening.

Today I have come the owner of a 2006 2.8 CRD Stow and Go.

There is some damage to the plastic covers that cover the rear lights, both sides, and so will need replacing.

I have had a look online but even with putting in the reg. number it is giving me various options.

I don't have an owners manual so not sure of what part I need.  Can I get just the covers or do I need to replace the entire unit, and could someone point me in the right direction of where to get them from?

    Thanks in advance.
