  1. There is a YouTube of changing the glow plugs on the 2.8 crd. I am sure they are at the front.
  2. Your problem with overheating seems common with the 2.8crd. I bought mine last August and it overheated on the way home! The garage replaced headgasket skimmed head thermostat and allegedly flushed the coolant but have doubts on how thorough they were. From what I've read if the coolant has been left for too long or is the wrong type then the rad silts up causing these problems. There is many articles that are very helpful on the forum. On full throttle they are quite rapid and mine seems okay on hills for speed but lincolnshire isn't Spain for hills.
  3. If you look for "autoshaman" on YouTube they cover lots of work on the Voyager including changing the thermostat on the diesel if it helps.
  4. I haven't got a sat nav but I suppose the old fashioned way of mile posts on a motorway and stop watch. Only worried due when going past speed cameras.
  5. At 60 mph my rev counter is just over 2000rpm. I was being followed by my daughter and her speedo was reading 65mph! As her car is a '16 reg Toyota rav 4 so I would say her speedo isprobably more accurate. I'm running 215/65/16 tyres which are allegedly standard on an '06 voyager. Can anyone confirm their revs versus speed.
  6. Thanks QinteQ I got your name right this time! I've got the thermostat ready to fit and the stuff to fit into the grill. So I'm all ready to go. Cheers again.
  7. Sorry to sound a bit dim but I have read your topics about wiring a resistor into the charging system. Being a newbie to ownership I'm getting round to doing the jobs like 2nd thermostat ( I can do that) but electrics worry me! When you say you cut the live wire and connect the resistor, is it a case of split the wire and connect to the resistor with the 5amp connector at both ends of the resistor? Thanks. I couldn't quite make it out from the pictures.
  8. In normal running it is normal at just under halfway but a run up the M62 last week at 70mph and it rose to 3/4 still little heat from heater. I backed off a bit and the gauge went down. The system was allegedly flushed twice, once when the garage changed the head gasket then again when they did the thermostat.
  9. Fellow voyager owners advice please. I have tried to remove the headlamp units but after removing the three screws lifting the plastic clip on top I still cannot get the unit out. I've twisted it all different ways to no avail, I gather there is a knack to it help? Secondly after the garage is satisfied that they sorted the cooling problem out ( which it isnt) I have to drive for a good 20 minutes to get a hint of warm air seeping into the vents, I've taken the glove box out but can't find the heater matrix to remove and flush. How do I get to it? Ta everso.
  10. Hi bignev, until today the temp gauge has been running around the halfway mark, but today with the heater off it sailed up to 3/4 I backed of the throttle and the gauge started to drop. I sat engine off for awhile then on the run home even doing 45 to 55 mph up went the gauge. I gather it's still poor cooling via the rad. Looks like a trip back to the garage!
  11. My 2.8 crd voyager has had a new head gasket, thermostat and allegedly flushed through twice under warranty. Problem I have now is that the heater is appalling and starts to get warmish after running for about 30 mins. Apart from heater matrix any ideas welcome.
  12. Being new to the 2.8 diesel ownership can anyone advise me. The temp gauge hovers around halfway whilst pottering but if I accelerate up to 60/70 or uphill then it goes up and into the red with warning chime if I back off the it will slowly cool down. There's no coolant loss but the coolant looks like gravy! I gather it's thermostat, radiator or coolant change, or all three? Any thoughts please?
