  1. ah! Ummm... new development! NOT engine related at all ....can't be, because I just went to drive it onto my land...and it doesn't make the noise in reverse! only in neutral or drive...uh oh...auto box problem? or some other ancilliary, like water pump? Got me completely baffled now...HELP!
  2. I bought a 2001 3.3 litre petrol auto Voyager on behalf of my brother-in-Law...silly move Apart from doors that won't stay unlocked ( ), and several other minor things, it drove well for 3000 kilometres. Then...ugh...it started to overheat on the motorway. Fortunately, he noticed, and pulled into a service station, where he let it cool down for an hour. Refilled it with coolant, started it up, and noticed the top hose from rad to engine had split along the hose clamp. Problem is, it ran perfectly when he turned the engine off when he pulled into the service station...no overrun,no pre-ignition etc. no unusual shaking etc., but it had developed a knocking sound, when he restarted it.. He called me out, and I ran it for 30 seconds listening to the noise. It sounded a bit like rod knock, but I couldn't really tell where it was coming from....but it sounded suspiciously more like a failed/collapsed hydraulic lifter. The oil light went out straight away ( I know that doesn't say much ), but the engine runs perfectly. No misfire through a valve not opening and closing properly...no emulsion anywhere in the rad or cap, and no coolant in the engine oil. So, before I get.my 71 year old hands filthy...any comments or experiences like this would be welcome! Thank you!
