ltd pt cruiser 2000.just purchased in limp mode engine and abs lights on did start and drive up to 40mph.battery now dead.car fab condition in and out.is it worth trying or giive up due to age? no idea what it is 96k on clock and nobody serviced it since 2006

hi im new.purchasing a s plate grand voyager le.not know anything about cars.does it have a timing belt or chain?secondly the power stearing has gone.could this be pump.The car is a trade in vehicle and they have no service history on car.it has a mot till next year but that doent make it roadworthy i know.many thanks in advance.linda
