  1. Hi everyone can u help me with this problem, I went out 2 days ago all fine parked up locked car with fob when got back to car fob not working when I got home changed the battery but it still doesn't work. Is there a way u have to program the fob cos I can't find any mention anywhere. I have one key and one fob and I am getting fed up with opening the door with the key and the alarm going off until I put the key in the ignition.
  2. I have done this a couple of times now, if ur just changing the top bearing (cheap plastic job) I put 4 coil spring clamps on 2 at a time clamping the bottom of the clamp to the base of the shock absorber then the top of the clamp as high as it will go (because of the bow shape of the spring) then tighten those 2 slowly when u get most of the spring compressed add the second pair and tighten all of them sometimes I take the first pair off and then start again with those. If u take ur time u can get the springs compressed enough to take the top bolt off change the bearing then put it back together again. I would put a strap around the clamps to stop them pinging off and hitting u this does work for changing the top mount only not the shock itself I bought 2 new ones when I bought the car and couldn't do it and had to take them to a garage that sold Chryslers and it cost me £60 so if I had to change shocks on this again I would buy the complete set with springs on it.Hope this helps.
  3. Hi and thanks for ur help everyone sorry it's been a while only I am disabled and I haven't been very well and able to do anything to the car just had to concentrate on getting better again. It all turned out to be a leaky diesel filter, at the bottom it had no rubber seal inside the electrical cap that screws to the bottom of the filter hence the low pressure cos when u crank it the diesel leaks out, so much for the RAC it's been off the road since November all for the sake of a new diesel filter which cost about £12. Put a new one on and its back to normal, once again thanks everyone.
  4. Hi can anyone help me I went out this morning and drove about 200mtrs from my house and it just died on me cranks fine but won't fire. I had RAC out and they couldn't find the problem, with his machine plugged in it said that there is no injector pulse or fuel pressure I asked if it could be fuel pump but he said no tried a garage they said it could be fuel pump so I haven't a clue so I am hoping someone else has had this problem I have a grand voyager 2.8crd mk4 and it's a 2007. Thanks Dave

  7. Got a f18 yesterday and fitted it so fingers crossed I should be OK for some time thanks for your help QinteQ it's nice to know people can be so helpful
  8. Thanks for your help I think I might go for the F18 and keep my old battery on trickle charge once I have had a go at the 7 stage charging that is. I know what you mean about not believing some people cos since that day my battery went flat and had it jump started it's been OK ever since. Even after saying that I still think it would put my mind at rest if I got the F18 and kept my ep450 as a back up like you do,better safe then sorry and I won't have to wait ages for the man in his orange van to turn up. My next job is glow plugs cos going through the FSH they have never been changed I have heard they can be a bit of a pig to get out and I should soak them with wd40 before I even try to get the old ones out. At least the weather is getting better cos of the old disability I can't do much on my GV when it's too cold or wet.
  9. I will try the 7 stage charging on my ep450 as a spare so which of the two batteries you have said would you think is the best bet for my car which is a 2007 Grand Voyager 2.8 crd executive. I understand the redtop will go straight in and I will have to cut the battery tray for the f18 which I can do just need someone who has had both tell me which one to spend my money on which I don't have a lot of because I am disabled.i just need not to have to worry about going to my car and it not starting which isn't great when u use a wheelchair hence the daveonwheels in my user name anyway thanks for you help
  10. Hi have same problem as most GV crd's this time of year bad starting and flat battery. 18 months ago I bought an exide EP 450 which has now given up and which the rac man tested and told me its faulty. So now not sure which to go for do I go for the optima redtop or the bigger exide EK508 or as someone else has put a Varta blue F18. The redtop and ek508 are about £160 not sure about the price of the f18 . Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks All I want is a battery that will do the job without the worry of wondering if it will start or not I am also one of those who only use it for small trips most of the time then a couple of times a year to tow my caravan on nice long trips.
  11. Hi I'm a Newby to this site had my 2.8crd for about 18 months and love it,except my battery goes flat if the central amp fuse is in if I take it out everything is fine except no sound from radio, am tearing wot little hair I have left out. Have been told it's the amp at the back on drivers side but have had rear panel out and can't find any amp any help will be greatly appreciated as on long journeys towing the Caravan it can get a bit boring and I miss the traffic reports.
  12. Hi I had this problem and found that the only cure was new rad and no more heating problems I tried everything even bleeding which can be found drivers side corner but had a lot of trouble turning it. I found my 2.8card would over heat while towing up hills since putting new rad in no problem. Hope this helps and by the way best place to get one is on eBay
