  1. Hi all Got a GV and the DVD screen refuses to come on, it works as can hear the movie the remote I have is broken big chunk if the circuit board is snapped. Does anyone either have one kicking about or if I could send someone a learning remote that they could program up? Other than that they seem to go for daft money sadly. Thanks
  2. Could possibly be a failed actuator somewhere that controls the flaps that direct the air flow. It's a case of following the ducting back and see, if you've hot access to a little endoscope camera that'd be quick.
  3. Thanks, thought of breakers but I can't really use a second hand circlip/snap ring though, after the abuse one of them takes its highly likely a used one is just going to well snap if I try to take one off. I've just guessed at bolts and found an M6 1.0x30 fits nicely I've ordered a box of misc circlips so hoping one of those fits. Blooming nightmare trying to find parts or even specs of parts.
  4. I've just had the outer part of the aircon clutch fall off, obviously the bolt has fallen out & vanished and I just found half a snap ring too so..... I need a snap ring and the centre bolt to hold it all together, any suggestions where I can find them? REALLY want to avoid buying & fitting a new compressor. Cheers
  5. Answered one of my own questions found the clutch & pulley https://m.buycarparts.co.uk/thermotec/7925266
  6. Today whilst put lost aircon, investigated and saw the bit on the outside edge of the pulley was hanging off and touching the bodywork. I'm assuming the bolt has come loose and allowed what I'm assuming is part of the clutch assembly to hang off the side of the pulley. Couple of questions 1. Can the aircon pulley fall off on operation with this part loose/missing? 2. If the bolt is still present and I do this back up is it likely to be OK? 3. Can you buy just the clutch kits & pulley? I've looked but can't find them. 4. Am I looking at a whole new compressor? Can anyone recommend a part supplier (other than eBay of course). Cheers
  7. Came across this the other day and think I've also fixed it (for free). Cleaned off the reluctor ring on nearside & the ABS sensor. Nasty noise & dodgy brakes appear to have gone now but ABS light was still on. Have disconnected the battery for awhile to see if that resets it. Will give it a try later. The reluctor ring was really really cruddy not surprised it stopped working assuming that was the fault.
  8. Lol we live in rural Norfolk & it's pretty hair raising when you're driving & come across an idiot in the middle of the road. I won't go out without a dashcam now. It's a nightmare when the tourists are here, take away the white line on a road & they're incapable of staying left
  9. Cheers yes that's the next step looking into something like that. Barjo make them already but they're pricey. Think might have found somewhere near my parents that'll do it at a reasonable price.
  10. Well she's supposed to be learning in the Seat Arosa but sometimes it's just not practical as too small. Like tonight, it's youth club 3 villages over then whilst kids are there we go food shopping so she drove tonight in it for the first time. Country lanes 30 then 60mph drop the kids off then few more country lanes then onto busy A road. I was impressed she did really well. She was learning before we had kids about 15 years ago but some lunatic biker destroyed the car she was learning in, luckily I was driving and it was during rush hour so everyone stopped as witnesses & the biker got prosecuted on about 5 different things but that put her off, now we live in rural Norfolk tho & I'm now disabled so she needs to drive to get herself about. Little Seat Arosa is a cracking car paid £395 for that 1.4 auto, 56,000 miles, fsh etc and it's just gone thru the 2nd mot needing nothing doing, straight thru not even an advisory not bad for a 1997 car!! Hoping the Grand Voyager will be just as good. I really love it already
  11. Yup tailgate works perfectly just the side doors that don't. Been out there again all wires read within 0.1 ohms of each other. Starting to wonder if someone's fiddled with the wiring somewhere and mangled it. Once I've got a few pennies I'll get a motor and try swapping that around as at the moment really that's looking like the last piece of the puzzle or possibly the control unit in the door. It's a shame there's not a wiring diagram somewhere so it'd be easy to look for trigger wires etc
  12. Ahhh ok well that helps so at least that's normal behaviour. Yes having looked at the wiring the door latch motor is fed from wiring internal to the door. There's a control unit in there the wiring loom from the door goes to that then back to the main door close motor & splits off the The door interlock. I'm thinking I might pickup a known good loom & motor just so I've got some good spares to swap around to try & help the diagnosis. At least it's fairly simple system. I think what I'll do tomorrow is some proper checks as you suggest resistance and also stick the meter on & look for power being applied, maybe I can start with the socket in the door pillar then work along from there. I'll get there in the end I'm sure, thanks for the tips they all really help. Loving the car already though. I've even got the wife insured as a learner on it pmsl.
  13. Ok I've double checked both cables and cannot find a break anywhere. I've pulled the trim off and checked everything & all looks OK. Odd thing tho if front passenger door is locked when you double click the remote to operate power door on nearside it unlocks the passenger door but does NOTHING else. If you press the door button on the pillar nothing happens no matter whether the door is open or closed or anywhere between. Anyone got any thoughts on this? I've tried disconnecting the battery as above but behaviour remains the same. DVD screen doesn't respond to the buttons on the ceiling BUT pulled the remote apart and the circuit board is snapped so hopefully that answers that one, just need to find a replacement now unless someone on here wants to program up a learning remote for some pennies? No car isn't 2006 from on here it's a 2005 bought from a private seller on Facebook, lots of history recent cambelt etc everything important works perfectly just the dvd player & sliding doors and I'm fussy so want to try getting them working
  14. Yeah I thought that bit I was then thinking what if it's separate faults on each door they could've occurred over time and not been repaired. I'll have another crack Monday/Tuesday. I didn't know if it was related to the other thing on the floor there with a 2 pin plug off the same wiring loom, I'm guessing some kind of sensor.
  15. They open & close manually only, the soft close part still works if you close the door to the point the latch engages it then pulls the door closed on the latch. The door motor itself does nothing at all. I've had the meter out and check continuity from the multi plug to the point the cabling disappears into conduit in the door pillar. So I'm thinking either some kind of controller failure further up the chain however these work, a break in the cable inside the sliding door or the motors have failed completely. What's the next most likely if the cable in the plastic snake appears ok?
  16. Hi all When trying to open both doors on remote or button nothing happens. I've metered out the door wiring for faults & each wire has continuity does anyone have further suggestions? I've checked fuses too. If the door is closed softly to motor operates the door catch & pulls the door shut. The pull down TV is dead too but the dvd player plays the disc as you can hear the movie I'm guessing the doors & screen aren't related.
  17. Just bought a 2005 Grand Voyager so now hunting for a tailgate guard to keep the dogs in so we can leave the boot open in car parks to keep them cool (no one would be able to steal them as our girl guards something rotten but then again she is a German Shepherd so she's doing her job lol). I know Barjo make them for many hundreds of £'s but if anyone has one that they no longer need or hear of them then feel free to let me know or if you got one made recommendations gratefully received too.
  18. Thanks very much, looked at it and it set off alarm bells. Vehicle was SORN but on the road nowhere near sellers house and when got there it was a dog rust patches all over, flat tyre and been SORN since December so suspect it's a trader pretending to be private etc. Anyway we were out anyway and decided to travel a bit further and found what looks like a peach and we've bought it collecting Friday. 2005 Grand Voyager 2.8 auto, limited. 133,000 miles full history, cambelt was changed at 125,000 and it's the stow and go model. £1500 only downside is a nasty smack on one wing which meh I can live with. So thanks for the advice fingers crossed it works out for the best now.
  19. Hi Got the chance of picking up a 2006 Grand Voyager in lovely condition lots of history and MOT until 2018 theres not even many advisories on the recent Mot's so it looks like it's been well loved. It's the 2.8 diesel auto the only downside is its done 195,000 miles so my real question is should that scare me off? I can get it for about £1000 so not talking megabucks. How long do these things tend to last before things like autoboxes die? Any advice gratefully received especially stuff to look for before buying.
