I recently had an engine cutout - sadly my auto had hotlined as I overtook (only 50mph).
The AA took me home and the guy said "Crankshaft sensor" from his computer.
I bought one from a scrap yard (new one over £200!). It arrived with a nick in the wire.
The salesperson said "Try it and we'll replace it." So we did.The fault wasn't cured so he sent a replacement. This hasn't fixed it. I've bought a reluctor wheel
in case. It's round and magnetic but some are toothed. Chrysler dealer says the part is correct. Before we lift the engine has anyone any comments please?

Thanks for the reply. I'm still bothered about "toothed" and "magnetic".
The mechanic said he could see teeth through the sensor hole.
Has anyone bought a new sensor from China?
