  1. HELP!! The fuel rail pressure valve at the end of the rail is leaking like a sieve. Keeps cutting out - common problem. on the 2001 CRD, the valve is always listed on ebay as the 110010015. However, there is a different engine code on the 2.5 litre diesel 2001 up until september 2001 whereby the fuel rail valve is smaller and has a 15mm nut on the it as opposed to the 18mm nut on the 0015 part. Where on earth do I get hold of one? On ebay the 0015 is for sale everywhere for £30. I have been restoring the car and all I need is this valve. do any of you have any more information about the problem? Do you know the part number to look online for the 15mm nut that mine is? Please see the attached image. The RHS is the wrong 0015 valve (18mm nut). on the LHS is the BOSCH 01-04 17 465 F643 015 (15mm nut). I really need good news! Gary
  2. Hi Andy, thanks for all your points and time. Indeed you have given me a few more things to try. I am going to spend the day trying out a few of your suggestions - will report later!
  3. Hi Andy. Could well be the idler/tensioner pulleys on the alternator belt. Mine were shot to pieces and making a horrible noise at idle at about 130k. I bought a new set, but before I fitted them the fuel problem happened - thanks for the post on my topic. ! GaryCRD.
  4. Hi Andy, thanks for the info. Yes, after say 10 seconds the pitch does change a little. From what I remember when it was ok, the pitch changed and then it shut off after another second. I was sure originally that it was an air leak, but there really aren't any drips anywhere along the fuel line. I can't find out what sets the duration of the pump run. I bought a second hand lift pump online and this made no difference. I took the original lift pump apart and can't see any obvious pressure sensor? I am thinking that this somehow relates to the ecu. How does the ecu decide the pump pressure is correct? The ecu must power up the pump when more fuel is needed? I seem to remember that when the fuel filter was changed in the past, it took longer to prime, which you would expect as it was removing all the air. Interestingly I discovered that in the lift pump there is a one way valve, so that it appears that if the lift pump continues too long it opens and it puts the pressured fuel into the return line, it then has nowhere else to go but back into the tank. You can hear it running back into the tank! Any ideas as to how it determines the pressure? I could scrap the car, but this is now more of a matter of the ultimate challenge that I can't let myself fail!!
  5. Hi, thanks for your post. Got me thinking. Then discovered that there are 2 relays for the lift pump. One for the fuel heater and one for the actual lift pump. I swapped the second relay and guess what.... Didn't fix it! Can someone remind me what is supposed to happen - it's been a while. You turn the key (2001 mk4), the lift pump whirls for 10 seconds or so, then it stops. Am I correct? Mine keeps whirling indefinitely.
  6. Hi. Ok here is the problem. My beloved voyager has been off the road for over a year. I have tried everything I can find online. All started with the engine kept cutting out. The only clue is that when the key is turned one notch, the lift pump keep wirling away - and doesn't stop. I have tried - new lift pump, tank removed and cleaned, clear pipes to see no air getting in, swapped the relay. From what I remember when it was ok, after turning the key it stopped priming after 10 or 20 seconds, could someone clarify this? Question is what sets the duration of the lift pump? There doesn't seem to be any pressure sensor in the pump, how does the ecu know when to stop the pump? I really need help. Any possible ideas or other things to try would really help. My only other thought was, does the prop valve have any part in the system? It still runs, but then cuts out, the ecu must be sensing the problem?
  7. Hi. I thought that the dash instruments wernt working on my 2001 voyager. Turned out to be as simple as the thin red wire that also attaches to the positive battery terminal wasn't clean. This wire powers many things like electric mirrors. There is also a fuse that runs the basic electrics like dash.
