  1. Winter is coming north of the wall and my GV is colder than a white walkers heart.

I don't think it's the stat as the temp is still reaching just under half way as is the norm. Earlier this year I flushed the coolant and replaced the rad, also replenished fluids with HOAT and distilled.

The A.C. has never worked and I have no plan on repairing this due to cost.

My thought is that it may be the heater matrix However please feel free to share your opinion and suggestions, my question is - has anyone replaced the matrix, is it easy enough and has anyone done some pointers for completing the job.

    Thanks in advance Graham

  2. thanks for the replies guys, tbh i forgot i had steering wheel controls so that looks like it may complicate matters.

I think i will stick to the standard radio for now and do a little bit more research / await the howto.

I dont use my car a great deal due to getting stupidly low economy (20mpg from the 2.8CRD) and was mainly wanting it so when my daughter is in the car on long journeys (regularly do Scotland to Doncaster) she will be able to play her music instead of listening to radio noise in the poor signal areas.

Thanks again and does anyone knows if this economy is the norm or is my motor just a poor performer

  3. Yeah thanks, my car doesnt have AUX connector or anything like that, its just like the one in this picture.

Can anyone recommend a replacement that may fit and not require shed loads of rewiring, I was hoping it would just be a case of connecting an aftermarket radio, hopefully standard size with adaptor plate.

I have found a stereo on ebay

it says it is suitable but reading previous posts on here has made me a bit wary

    Thanks Graham

  4. Hi I have seen numerous posts with regards to the stereo system in the GV and how difficult it is to upgrade to an aftermarket unit, however these threads all seem to be related to the stereos that have DVD, nav etc.

My stereo is just a bog standard CD/Radio with no DVD, etc. Is it still just as much of a pain to change over or more straight forward, all I want to do is add a stereo with USB that will allow me to play music off my phone.

    Any help is much appreciated

  5. Hi I have read all the topics on this subject and have an issue.

Couple of months ago I did all brakes on car, front and rear including new shoes and fitting kit for hand brake, anyway I snapped the front handbrake cable when testing (foolishly).

I have now fitted a new cable but can't get it to take, looking at it I think my clock spring has come unsprung, can anyone advise if this is the case and if so what do I do to sort?

Will try to put pictur3 on of my assembly

    Thanks in advance

    Graham

  6. Am pretty handy and am sure I could overhaul the existing caliper but going away tomorrow so just got a pair of reconditioned caliper from ECP, managed to haggle them down to £250 with £60 to be returned as surcharge.

Only got this motor as a cheap run around in stead of getting a new car on finance. Costs me a fortune in parts and at 18mpg it would have been cheaper to get the new car.

  7. How easy is it to rebuild the caliper?

    Can't afford £300+ for 2 new caliper

    Hi there,

I had this, and despite the same as you, the calipers looked fine and when I had it all apart seemed to be releasing properly, in the end I swapped the caliper out and it solved the problem. They seem to stick very slightly on a lip that holds them on enough to generate the heat but no noticeable binding that you'd find from a fully jammed caliper.

I'd say go for the replacement caliper as it sounds like you've checked and changed everything else apart from that. Have you narrowed it down to 1 wheel in particular? I'd be doing that first.

  8. Hi I have just fitted new discs, pads and shoes to my 2006 GV 2.8crd stow and Go but they are getting very hot after driving for 20 minutes. I have stripped them down a few times as I can't figure out what is causing it. All parts are new, even fitted new small parts kit to the shoes. The calipers are running freely and the posting have been lithium greased before depressing piston back in.

Any ideas what it could be as no garages in my area will touch Chrysler brakes as they are a pig to work on - which I tend to agree with.

Also can anyone advise where I can get a new front handbrake cable from without going to main dealer as they want to charge me daft money.

    Any help greatly appreciated

  9. Hi all,

Just bought a 2006 2.8 CRD GV after borrowing my brother in laws Voyager 2.5 and find it perfect for my needs.

As i am unsure of history have done a full service and also plan to replace transmission fluid and fully flush coolant.

The car runs great but when on a motorway or driving uphill for a prolonged time the car overheats, after checking the forum i have found this to be a common problem so I have a brand new radiator, deionised water and Comma G05 coolant to change.

However i am unable to drain the full 14litres of fluid, i can only manage to get about 5 litres and that is with me jacking the car up at the back to hope gravity will help.

Any advise for a full drain please
