  1. Hi, This is a longshot but I've a developing rattle from the area around the passenger side around the floor behind the middle row seat towards the door. I've checked all the obvious stuff and getting nowhere. It's hard to pinpoint when you're driving the car. I don't think it's the door but at this rate I'll be taking the door off and driving to rule it out.

Has anybody has anything similar and resolved it ?

    Thanks, Mark.

  2. Fitted new rad, spent ages trying to bleed it with the small hose top right disconnected.

Then realise the mechanic who fitted the engine had kinked the hose from the bottom of the expansion tank. NO WORDS !

Released the kink all is well, running just on around the quarter mark in the temp gauge.

The cynic would say I probably didn't need a new rad but glad I fitted it anyway.

That said had I not been careful the other day I'd have cooked the engine because of a careless mechanic !

  3. Thanks,

According to the breaker the engine was taken out of a running car which had no issues, apparently the radiators are notorious in these cars. I'm not chancing anything so I've ordered a new radiator,

The top hose to the radiator was hit yet the radiator was only look warm.

We'll know at the weekend the outcome. Failing that I'll either put the thermostat from my own original engine or no thermostat at all for a bit to see what's going on.

  4. Stupid question but after replacing the engine in mine a SECOND time I don't mind sounding stupid.

Whats the best way to bleed the system ?

First proper run after new engine and running just above normal. Replaced relays to be sure, car running now in drive for two hours, fans cutting in and out as usual. Occasionally getting bubble up the front pipe into the expansion tank.

Should I drive with radiator cap loose for a few days ? Or something else.

    Thanks, Mark.

  5. Thanks,

I'm hoping my luck is changing on this saga !

Seems the engine the breaker replaced with has had a timing belt water pump etc changed very recently. Still has the markings Goodyear 46510639F on it and virtually no wear on it or the pulleys. Is this a good quality belt ?

My background would be hydraulics so well used to seeing gates but not goodyear.

    Thanks

  6. Yeah that is what I meant, should ok, engine exact same only this one has AC compressor ( which someone welded solid on my own engine ) fitting new timing belt water pump etc since we're going to all this bother.

I really would like to think we'll be ok after this.

On that note , where do I fill the AC from ? I'm sure I saw two locations that look like fill valves ?

  7. Thanks for the manuals, would be lost without them.

Now we seem to have a bad earth from the left most relay on the front chassis crossbeam. If we run a wire from it to the battery negative we extinguish the engine lift on the instrument panel, but the relay clicks rapidly.

Have we missed something ? Is this the relay for the transmission ? The wires on this relay do seem lighter than the others which makes us wonder. Also the PCM relay in the fuse box doesn't seem to be connected to this relay ?

    Any help appreciated,

    Thanks
