  1. Sorry Stuart can't help you with a 'take your car apart manual' I'm afraid to say...

The four button control unit does come apart really easily although you do end up literally taking it to pieces. It does back together simply enough though when you come to re-attach it to your new fascia.

I didn't need to remove the metal cradle unfortunately as my new unit was also single DIN at the back.

Ive completed the four button control part OK.  Actually I will take some photos of the process and put them up here ... Im waiting on the steering wheel remote control cable for the SONY which I forgot to order so It will be this saturday before I get to have a go at the cradle part. I need daylight as my garage is full of other crap so no car has ever been in there!

    :)

  2. Does anyone have the workshop manual pics for the central dash assembly?

I started to take it to bits today to fit my Sony double DIN unit and had to stop as I couldnt see a way of getting the single din metal cradle out .. plus I was missing the correct star driver to take apart the dash control unit from the silver fascia.

any pics or drawings would really help .. I've learned not to rush these jobs!

    Cheers

  3. Stuart I had a quick look at mine yesterday after 'reading' a comment or two on the Delta Italian FB page. The guy there was bonding a small circle of tubing to the flap so that where it meets the release switch - the area is more 'pronounced.' This led me to believe that there must be an issue with the flap loosening and coming away from the bodywork ever so slightly - meaning its not near enough to be released when you try to open. I manoeuvred mine slightly and applied pressure to the hinge and the flap opens and closes ok - for now at least! I'm sure I may need to investigate how the flap is secured within the bodywork but its done the trick for the moment...

That sounds feasible ... I've had no chance to investigate mine yet .... busy times at the moment ... Last fill up pulling the red cord didnt make a difference resorted to thump with my had seemed to work.

I had a S Type jag with similar issue ... so its not just restricted to Deltas ....

  4. It's well spec'd for such a cheap unit... I'm just not sure about the HUGE volume control as it might look a bit odd compared with the rest of the switch gear.

You'll have to post up some pic's when you get it fitted.

At least its got some reasonable sized buttons for the radio stations ...  I was thinking of doing some customisation of the cheap looking silver plastic panels but I'll leave that mod for another day. I'd thought about putting some wood veneer on them .... I'll maybe practice on the original panel after I take it off!

    I'll post some pics !

  5. I've bought a sony wx-gt90bt cost £100.00 Will need to get the fascia kit and the SWC adapter etc so that will add another £60.00 or so.

    I dont need sat nav ... I know where I'm going !

I fitted a double din Pioneer unit in my old Alfa GT it had a rear USB input which allowed me to route a cable into glovebox to hide my iPod but I cant be bothered with the hassle of that this time so it will be front connection only for the iPod.  The Sony has a nice app for controlling the iPod from a Smartphone not really sure what use that will be...

    :)

  6. Ha-ha maybe...Alfa Romeo until I die... :P

No in fairness I love all things Italian. If totally honest I prefer classic Lancia as I don't think current cars are built as well as Alfa, but in my 100k dream garage I'd have a Beta Coupe and a Montecarlo in a heartbeat...

I had a montecarlo back in the late 80's loved it ... had to sell it as I'd just bought a flat and was short of money for carpets !...

  7. I dont want bigger wheels 16" are fine and give a decent ride/handling compromise.  I had 19" rims on my 159Ti... getting tyres for that was EXPENSIVE!

I'm assuming anything from a bravo platform will be fine...

  8. Looking for a set of Delta alloys  to use for my summer tyres and re-use the steel ones for the winter tyres.

    16" tyres on my 1.4.

I guess Alloys from a Fiat Bravo would fit ?  Or Alfa 147 /GT 156 etc? as I dont see any used Delta Alloys on the e-bay.

    ...

  9. Well I just bought the car and it didnt come with a handbook.  I guessed there must be a emergency release somewhere ... but couldnt find it ... the fuel cap did finally come open ... so I was OK this time ... I just worried that it would happen when my wife was out in it and I'd get an emergency call out from her ! So for my own sake I need to fix it :)

  10. I bought the T-Jet its in White and indeed someone has wrapped the roof in black, it looks ok from a distance but not on closer inspection.  Its a matt black wrap, I may take it off or get it redone. The car has only done 14,000 miles so its barely been run in ...

The first thing to sort out is the ICE as this is a base spec S model, I need some iPod connectivity.

The non multiair engine is fine for me.. I got 45mpg on drive home so not bad a for a decent sized car.

    Cheers

  11. All

I've given up on getting an auto 1.6 diesel and I am going to test drive a local 1.4 T jet Delta S, which is the basic version I guess.... No bluetooth or MP3 etc.

Any advice on what to look for in the car would be appreciated.

Any know issues with engine? which I think is a derivative of the good old FIRE but with a Turbo.

Also any issues with bodywork or whatever I should check other than usual tyres, engine levels etc?

Its my first new (to me) car for 4 years so I'm quite excited!

I'll have to upgrade the sound system so I can play my iPod through it ... I'm not bothered about hooking up my phone as I dont like being disturbed by phone calls when I'm drive ...

I may go down the route of badging it as a Lancia ... but not too bothered but if anyone spots a Lancia Grille then let me know !

  12. It will be quick enough for me after my Doblo in fact  it will be quite sport! y... my previous car was an Alfa GT 3.2V6 ... hence the points ... it was superb fun ... but I'm over it now!

I'd rather buy privatelyif possible ...  there is a nice looking Delta Automatic in Northern Ireland... the price is high and I doubt the dealer will come down to my price.  It does have a low mileage.

Quite happy to travel to anywhere in UK for one... i've done it plenty times. Car prices a high in Aberdeen so its well worth a £100 flight ticket. to get a better car.

  13. Yeah I'm familiar with it as I've driven both a 159ti Sportwagon in 2.4L 5 cylinder diesel form and a 1.9tdi Saab Aero and thought it was alright, if a little lack lustre... I found it changed up too quickly when trying to make fast progress and wasn't great at changing down either when you needed it to.

I guess it depends on your driving style as I thought it worked well in the Freelander.

Was the one in Manchester at 'Dace Motors' in Stockport?

yes Dace Motors ... Any knowledge of them?

I used to be an enthusiastic driver until I picked up too many speeding points.  I have retrained myself by joining the IAM and after 4 years have a clean licence ... So my style now is "relaxed" and stress free... except when I get stuck in Aberdeens gridlock!

    :)
