  1. Ooh I forgot to mention something.... The only problem or side effect of the aerial booster is if you turn you ignition off with turning the radio off first, you get the radio continuing for a few seconds followed by a hiss before power is cut to the booster. It could be my Navplus causing it, but think its more to do with power to the lighter socket still being live for a few seconds longer if that makes any sense at all lol????

sounds like there will be a capacitor involved and its still charged so will drain down after a few seconds...

  2. Stuart I had the same problem when I swapped out the original head unit for the Navplus! Yes you need a powered aerial amplifier.... I found loads on eBay, and bought one for about a tenner as the cheaper ones looked a bit rubbish. I wired it into the back of the fag lighter for power....

Brilliant thanks for the reply ... I'll get one and fit it ASAP.  I've suffered the poor radio reception for ages, but I mostly listen to my iPod so its never been high on my "items to fix list"  But my wife is using the car more so she mostly listens to the Radio ... so the priority has been upped!

  3. My Delta steering is at an angle... its bloody annoying ... Im not OCD but ....

Anyway I asked Arnold Clark to fix this when they did my service ... but they forgot and I cant be ****sed taking it back to them.

Has anyone taken of a steering wheel... I'm assuming I'd have to disable to airbag somehow ... any advice welcome !

:)  I'd probably better get hold of a torque wrench for this sort of work!

  4. MOT'd last week but failed ...  Turns out I had a broken offside rear coil spring... It was replaced under warranty but this involved a 15 mile trip to the official local Chrysler Dealer in Kemnay ... as the Aberdeen Arnold Clark service centre were not allowed to do it.  Seems bonkers. Anyway very impressed by the Kemnay chrysler jeep dealer ...friendly and helpful bunch. Then back to Arnold Clark in Aberdeen for re-test.  They then forgot to complete the rest of the work i asked them to do.  !! bloody pain. So now I plan on centring my steering wheel myself.

  5. Hello All,

an update on satnav/gps for those interested. I have now found a Navigation icon on one of the screens which does work as a proper satnav/gps and actually speaks to me. The in-line aerial booster works well and I can now receive fm stations well. When I have a bit more time I will look at getting the Navigation controlled by the NAV button on the left side of the unit.

    Rod

    hi Rod

Did you have a problem getting decent radio reception after fitting your system?  I have just fitted a Sony head unit in mine and get terrible FM radio reception.  Maybe the factory fitted system has some built in amp for the Aerial?  I'll try and get aerial booster and see if that helps. What unit did you buy?

    Cheers

    Stuart

  6. Yes I put those Goodyears on Rosso  B) Much quieter

I have just put some on my Delta,,, nice tyres ..  looking for a set of nice alloys now for my Delta and will put some winter tyres on the steel wheels ready for next year.

Mind you its actually snowing here in Aberdeen today ! About our 3rd snowfall this "winter" though I guess it must be springtime ...

  7. Have no problem with the Mrs at Selfridges - ex now of 7 years plus!

What mileage have you on your car Nello?

My discs have a bit of the 'rust rim' but appear like new - 20k miles and hopefully will last a few more miles.

I thought that the down pipes were a bit noisy, and asthmatic - but the car came back with the 'fault solved' - probably just a tighten up on the down pipes from the engine. No faults on advisory - clean bill of health.

Will revert to my local Man in his Garage for the next one, I had a 'free' MOT with the garage that I bought from. Won't be back to pay main / dealer prices next year!

I put a complete set of new boots on, earlier in the winter - three rims from my car and an odd one from a second car - interestingly enough I had three different tyres on three rims, with the fourth rim having had puncture repair.

Hopefully 12 months of hassle free driving and the 20K service next time round.

She looks really cool at the moment - having had a really good wash and brush up, black plastic mopped up with car plan blacker ....

Only thing that I'm annoyed with, is the lip of the front edge of roof above the windscreen - complete wsh & brush up, to return home with the first mossy bodies of the year, encrusting the gap! Looks naff on the white paint job.

Stuart - where do i find the council MOT station? Are you in England? or Scotland?

Rosso - is yours a petrol or diesel?

    Penguin

Council MOT station... I just googled my local council and MOT ...

I think quite a few councils do their own vehicles MOT's  so as part of getting authorised for MOT... they have to allow the general public to use the facility.

I live in Stonehaven, Scotland ...

    :)

  8. No I dont dont grasp it and I dont hold onto to it whilst driving (still talking about the gear lever here ...)  Its just and ugly un-ergonomic shape.  I'll maybe just oreder an Abarth one and return if it its not suitable.

  9. Anyone got a informed opinion if a Fiat 500 6 gear knob will fit on my Delta... I dont like the square  uncomfy one in mine...  I cant see any really decent aftermarket lift up ones I like but plenty around for the 500 Abarth etc...

  10. Yep I agree with all of the above, but putting my Lancia sentiment aside I think Marchionnes plan is sound. They have to compete with global scales of economy and Lancia is not a world brand.  There is very little profit in small cars and Ypsilon may well sell in Italy but its not on the same scale in Europe as the Fiat 500 or Panda.

So concentrate on Jeep and Alfa Romeo globally, Fiats in Europe and South America, Chrysler for the US. Jeep is already going great globally, its up to Alfa Romeo re-vamp to be a big success. The missing part of the global jigsaw is they need a partner in Japan/India... so I fully expect Suzuki or Mazda to be a target.

  11. My wife had a VX220 .. the non turbo version... it was spoiled by that lousy GM engine ... sounded like a cement mixer. I thought the Lotus Elise with the Toyota engine was light years better. The gearchange was also rotten ... but that might have just been hers.

I liked the styling of the VX220 more though.

  12. Canada is in America ... North America to be pedantic .... but its definitely not in the USA!

Jeeps are cool, so is the Chrysler 300.  But its not a Lancia.  Shame the last Lancia will be the Ypisilon.
