No worries Jonnyjeep, you don't know me or my experience so no offence taken - I would usually drain from the sump as well, just couldn't be bothered getting the ramps and extenders out!
Maybe next time, I'm planning on changing the transmission oil at the next service, so it'll be worth the extra effort.
You mention diagnostic software - is there anything easily available for the 300CRD? I've got a good code reader/scanner, but sometimes a laptop can delve a little deeper.

I thought sucking the oil out of an engine was a BMW main dealer trick, along with also not replacing the filter
Best to remove the sump plug & let gravity do the job
Was able to suck the oil out of the sump, got 10.5 litres out of it! Filter was easy to replace as its on top of the engine.
Happy Days.

regarding oil changes on the 3.0l V6 Diesel.
Has anyone successfully "sucked" the oil from the sump utilising one of the vacuum or electric pumps available on the market, when changing the oil?

I googled the engine and came up with this link from another forum.

The manual covers the 3.0 V6 Diesel.

Just bought a 300CRD Touring. Awesome car, but I am struggling to find or get hold of a manual that covers the car and the 3.0 litre diesel engine.
Does anyone have any ideas or maybe a link to an online source - I've googled it and all I can find is the manual for the petrol engined models.
Thanks in advance.

Just bought my first Chrysler - have been looking at these for ages.
A '56 plate 300C Touring. Awesome car, first trip a 150 mile commute this morning.
Looking forward to looking at the technical stuff and also posting my experiences.
A Quick Question.........
