Hi Steveky

Have you got any paperwork from previous owner?

Has the service book been scribbled on?

As per common sense if you have not got any paperwork ......

........ If you think it needs a question - it needs doing.

Service intervals depend a) on mileage and B) age of belt (2007 = 8 years)

Fan belts - I do mine (well my man with his spanner) every 48k - if it snaps and it costs 30 quid, its cheaper than a new engine.

If the car has not moved very much - 69/8 = 9k / year, has it sat around or was it  used as a run around?

Sitting rubber belts in one position for extended periods of time does not do them too much good.

New engine and city 3 to 4000?

New timing belt 100 & fit?

I know which bill I would prefer to pay!

Thanks for the response, the reason for question is that if I take out the extended warranty and the belt should have been done and it goes the warranty is invalidated but if as the garage says its 10 years or 100,000 miles and it goes then the warranty should be valid, but as you say I should get it done just for peace of mind anyway so thanks again for helping me decide to have it done regardless
