Auto Italia Meeting

Question

Any of you chaps planning on going to the Auto Italia Summertime Classics event in June? http://www.auto-italia.co.uk/events.asp Its the one event I always go to as its not far from me and Mrs Nello loves the place. Stanford Hall is a lovely setting with nice grounds for a picnic etc. near Lutterworth by the M1/M6 junction. I usually go in either my Coupe or X1/9 but there was a Chrysler badged Delta SR there last year with the Lancia Motor Club boys so would be interested to see the reaction to a couple of properly badged Deltas'........

I have mixed feelings about this one as it's quite pricey for what it is and since they watered it down from a purely Italian event it put me off completely. However having said that if we are having a delta 3 get together I might think about it! Not too sure that most hardened lancia fans are too bothered about the modern ones though but mine has provoked slight curiosity on occasions.

I know what you mean mate but I don't give two-hoots about what someone else thinks about my cars........ The Chrysler one sat with the Motor Club last year. If they have a moan I'd get out my old Fulvia photos

I was a little bothered about the renaming of the event before last years show - so much so I even contacted Phil Ward but he reassured me its still AI biased and TBH there was not much else outside of 'Mama-Italia' at the 2014 event anyway!

We think the location is superb and a great day out for all with the house and grounds - The Abarth stunt plane usually turns up - If Mrs Nello likes it enough to go it can't be too bad!

In that case I'll take the Delta Mike. As mentioned I was going anyway but usually in the Coupe/X1/9. Always a good day out - speak nearer the time..... Anyone with links to the Lancia Motor Club? Let them know? I'll can mention on their FB page - If Stuart with the LHD Delta attends we would have the entire known UK Delta Series 3 club there!

No its a private Estate - you can actually stay overnight in the House buts its very expensive. I think its £13 per adult / £3 per child on the gate

Wowsers... robbing......b!

So the best part of £30 then for my lot, that's a bit steep! Then fuel to Leicester and back plus anything I decide to stuff in my face

As I said earlier I find it rather ridiculous on entry prices, if you go with a car full it costs a fortune and tbh the cars are the show all brought their on your own fuel I really fail to see how auto Italia justify it. I rather suspected that the price has gradually eroded the attendance and could be why they changed it to an all comers meeting. I'll ask Julia and Stuart if they are going, they have a young Alsatian these days so does Stanford hall allow dogs? Bit of a trek for them though as they live in Cumbria

Thanks Alan - just joined that - I only used the Motor Club FB page as I thought £50 a year membership was a bit steep to join the club - would rather spend it on the car.

I think Dogs are allowed but I'll try to confirm.

The pricing has changed this year, it will be based on a per car basis rather than per person :)

I'll be there, but running the FIAT Forum stand - to make sure to come and say hello if you make it there too :)

Well I checked on the auto Italia web page and any mention of price was suspiciously absent, on ginger beer promotions site it says £13 adult £3 kids so it would appear as ridiculously expensive as ever.....

Whoop Whoop - I'm off on the 16th as well so this could be the date for the first UK Mk.3 meet! I went to Stanford on Sunday. Delayed getting there as the weather was rubbish in the morning but brightened up as the day went on. I parked with the Lancia's though no other owners came over   I glanced over a few times though and the car was getting a good amount of attention.

Had a couple of nice chats with people though including one chap who thought it looked ace - not bad considering he had both a GranCabrio and a 355  B)

OK I will be going to MITCAR any others definitely planning to go? Haven't decided if I'll go in the Delta as I can get a lift in Steve's Beta Volumex and the fuel saving would be handy! Julia and Stuart might be there as well not sure if they will be in his delta or Julia's panda, I can try to influence their vehicle selection if this is going to be Delta 3 meet 2015
