Chrysler Delta Timing/cam Belt Replacement On 1.6 Diesel

Question

Had my Delta for just over 3 years and been a great car, its done 54k with once timing belt change at 44k 4 years ago.

I spoke to a Jeep dealer who said they don't see any of these now. He Quoted £799!! includes the water pump he said, I thought it would include another car at that price. normally pay around £300-350 for cambelt on other cars.

He advised it needs doing every 8 years but then looked in the handbook and it shows 4 years for high miles and 5-6 for low mileage use.

Confused on what is really correct it is a diesel 1.6 auto, Taken it to a jeep dealer for the last 2 services they do like to charge you a lot for an older car now.

Any one have any ideas on cost and also who is any good? I am in the Kent area near Bromley. Can any good indi garage do the work or will you need special tools?

Thanks

Im in the Kent area too (woop woop). As a benchmark I got a quote from the (in)famous Mr Clutch, as mine is due soonish. They came out with £399 and some shrapnel for timing belt change, water pump and coolant flush. Even they make your dealer look steep! The last timing belt on my Delta, before i owned it, was done at a Vauxhall dealer and came out at £530. Must be the Kent Effect! Haha!!
