Gearbox Issue? Broke Down. Advice Needed!

Question

Hi, my 06 grand voyager had a trip on a tow truck to a garage earlier this evening. Husband was driving it and the gears went funny and the engine warning light came on. It wasn’t seeming to change up the gears and over revved beyond 35mph. He pulled over and called the AA who came and their fault report reads

‘Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Gear control - 3F7 / 5-sp.auto.transm.EATXJ2190P0734 - Gear ratio 4th gear. Error Message : Incorrect ratio.P0733 - Gear ratio 3rd gear. Error Message : Incorrect ratio. Status :P1790 - Shifting operation. Error Message : Faulty operation. Fault stored. We have arranged for a recovery of your vehicle.’

It’s gone to a specialist gearbox garage but they are super busy and said they’d have a quick look tomorrow. Any experience or thoughts? Also any idea of the cost if it needed a whole new gearbox?

Thanks in advance

I'm afraid to say its in the hands of the gearbox company now. So whether its just a relay away or a solenoid thats not going to help keeping the garages business going. So it'll be something like, "we'll strip it down and have a look". So big money then. Some garages will even fit secondand gearboxes but yours is a specialist. All I can say is keep us posted, as you never know.
