2.8Crd No Power When Under 2000Rpm ,lots Of Black Smoke When Taking Off .

hi, 

i have a 2006 voyager 2.8crd which suddenly developed a fault where its really lumpy starting in the morning .When you accelerate there is hardly any power ,loads of black smoke and then once i get it out the drive and past 2000rpm it goes fine.

Engine light also came on. i don the key dance but it just brought code P1685 which doesnt look like anything to do with my problem

 

so pulling out onto a main road with 3 kids in car aint ideal. 

 

i tried a tin of wynns egr cleaner this morning. got back and noticed a patch on the ground . It appears the whole can went through the system and is now lying directly underneath the engine bay . This didnt look right and assume i must have a leak but i'm useless. What should i be obviously looking for ?

Jack the car up and look at the turbo, the seals might be knackered. Don't forget to use axle stands, and you'll need a good light source.

would it be the turbo though as it still kicks in good and hard ? there is possibly a slight air noise but there is no whistle or anything like that . i know nothing about turbos so wanted to check with you

P1685 is coving up as Key not registering with immobilizer, maybe your too quick in actions. This smoke thing, everyone gets it in their life sometime. Black smoke caused by too much fuel in mixture and not getting its chance to burn. Turbo is mentioned, maybe wastegate is not operating properly due to actuator faulty or tubes too it. Wastegate can be compromised with carbon. Of course we have the dreaded EGR of which it needs to close on booting it.

I'd say needs a carbon clean and Turbo checked out..
