Leak In Heating Pipe Under The Car

Hi to all,

 

I have a hole in the rear heating pipe (that is what I think it is) and all the engine looses all its coolant through the hole. I am France with the car and need to get it home 500 miles away. Pics are attached. The local garage, RAC contact, is saying it is going to be very difficult and take a long time.

 

 

If it at was home I would try brazing it just to have a temporary fix but I am not so do not have any gear to do the job.

 

So I am searching for ideas that will get the car on the road and able to drive 500 miles.

Are you sure it is coolant? 

Usually is Pink 

 

Look like a Air Con water wastage pipe to me, normal to leak. 

 

But if Garadge looked at it then fair enough., 

 

*These pipes looks like and exhaust pipe to me, does it leak from behind them? 

 

I'm trying to thing where are they located.

I've fixed a metal radiator pipe before using liquid metal/petrol patch. 

Might be worth a go.

Are they the set of 4 pipes that go to the rear heater and also the air con coil on a 3.3 petrol?

If so they are aluminium on  mine, and I can only guess that as soupstone suggests liquid metal with a wrap of some kind might get you home.

thanks for getting back to me. The pipes are under the drivers seat on the right side of the car. The liquid is clear because it is the water I have just poured in coming out. It is also warm/hot as it comes out.

 

The pipes are located above the exhaust pipe.

 

Soapstone and BigNev - After your suggestion and a bit of research AKA looking at the shelves at the local bricolage I found a high temperature liquid metal that I figured would do the job.

 

However things have moved on a bit and we have left it with the RAC to sort out at a garage here and  they are going to fit a new pipe. because we have to get back for work and when it is sorted we will come back to pick the car up.

Ah ok, I presume it is a petrol then as ours had a similar but less severe leak from that steel section of pipe, running down from the bulkhead where they split to feed the cabin front heater then go under to head to the back heater coil.

 

Good luck with them locating the new piece, i got lucky and found it on ebay!!

Holed pipe, cracked pipe, use piece of rubber tube over the leak and clamp to metal with jubilee/hose clip. Hose doesn't even need to go all around tube.

i have got the same problem with my 2.5 RG IV . i cant found the part number and i dont found on ebay.

 

is there possible to get a new intake pipe assembly?

Was just going to add with these adverts on our screens nowadays, there are some remarkable coloured plastic tapes for sale. You have probably viewed the latest one where the dude pulls the tape of the barrel repair and it spurts out. Then just sort of wipes it back on and it doesn't leak..Would probably do for hoses as well I'm sure...

So coolant pipes no problem, just the getting it in there ..
